I look at the PC screen far less with an MPC Studio than I do with maschine mk1, which is more in line for a comparison.

Have you used the MPC Studio?

Apologies Jahrome, I was referring to home computers and laptops. I just don't get the touch screens there. I use macs and love the glide pad. Tablets and phones and yes the Kronos, of which I have the X61 for several years now, the touch screen is great, but just a bit cramped on the Kronos. Now for the MPC, Maschine, etc I do like touch screens just not on desk top computers or even laptops, like someone mentioned, touch just doesn't work well with a vertical display.

I have the mpc studio and yes i look at the computer screen more than I did with the mk2 for many functions but the change in interface and workflow was of benefit and the sound and groove feels better to my ear

I agree 100%. Korg put way to much stuff on each page of the Kronos that I had to use a stylus pen when I owned mine. I didn't have such issues with the Triton Studio.

and thats an opinion based on fact because youve used both

for some reason the MPC feels like a standalone unit to me from the get go, Maschine has always felt like a controller for software, but of course peoples opinions vary.

I agree here also the build quality in particular the ren and to lesser degree the the studio both had a build quality that seemed to follow on from akai's hardware past.

where as maschines design seemed as though it was approached as a midi controller from the outset interms of style and build.

Just seen a demo of the Touch. I'm impressed by the workflow/features. There is no need to hype it up. When it is released, it will speak for itself.

Spill it Jah, give some details. How was the screen responsiveness? What kind of menu options did you try, and was it running 1.9?

Everything I tell you as far as specifics can be viewed on the Akai website. The website, you get a very good overview of what the MPC Touch UI looks like to include its Menu. Menu screen displays all of the available MPC Modes. At first, I was skeptical if I would like a Touch interface. But after seeing it, it simply makes sense.

The Touch Screen is beautiful and very responsive from what I have seen. They did not cut corners. When you see it, your first thought will be why they didn't do this before....

I actually been waiting for this. I run 1.8.2 exclusively on my tablet and been begging for it to be touch optimized.

You will have to get the Touch for such features which runs on 1.9. All of this info is available to the public.

I have some questions as far the ren. For my mobile set-up I have a bag and go to studios with maschine studio locally. I have my laptop, audio komplete 6, midi controller etc. For maschine studio I have some maschine expansions on my laptop. I have battery 4, molekular, polyplex etc. I also have air instruments entire vst line categorized under user in maschine with all diva presets, nexus etc. All organized into categories synths, brass.
    1. Can I browse different presets from the mpc ren/mpc studio/touch controller? For ex diva 2, air instruments (I can do this on maschine).
    2. How do you layer different vst presets in the ren compared to maschine studio. In maschine studio I will take a patch from xpand2, diva, and nexus and layer them. Hit select-multi and link group. Then on the controller I browse and load up molekular. This is all done from the controller. What is a equivalent workflow on the mpc ren/touch?
    3. Battery 4-Can I browse the different cells within a kit using only the controller and then assign each cell it's own channel to the mpc ren's mixer (effects etc)?
    4. I have some samples that i need to find the key. I can find it in maschine studio using the chord/scale feature. How would you find it using the renaissance? Because let's say I want to add to the hook sessions strings pro.
    5. How would I load up my different effect patches from Molekular using the Ren?
    6. On a consistent basis what drums kits for trap, R&B, dance, pop do akai create for inspiration similar to the maschine expansions?

Its the same benefit as having purchased/registered copies of Pro Tools 11, Logic X, Live 9, and Reason 8 on my computer. The same benefit as having Komplete, Omnisphere, Arturia V collection, Motu Mach 5, etc.

Do I use all these products all the time? No. Of course not. I know what you are trying to do and really shouldn't entertain you. But I will leave it at that.
