so is it just the 'recording' of mutes that you think is wrong or is it the current mute feature in maschine that you think is wrong?
in other words are you of the belief that we should not be able to press a pad and mute anything, i'm not even talking about recording, but just how it is right now... we can mute pads, groups etc... you think that is wrong?

I new there was something strangely familiar bout you :D .... Let me tell you what doesn't make sense, how about recordable mutes in a non-pattern based sequencer, because the whole point of recording mutes as you play them is based in pattern based sequencing. In a non pattern based sequence there isn't even a pattern playing so you would just cut out a section of the track you are working on, but if you're working with pattern based music that is when one would trigger a mute within a pattern. what the hell are you talking about?

Yea, maybe it is related with going bankrupt because they dont know what they are doing anymore, and being adquired by a random chinese brand.

one of the guys is a beat thang advocate so he appreciates the standalone function

but both of them acknowledge a market for standalone but they just say it has become a niche market.

Underneath the screen is a mirror. Those who have sweaty hands can just flip the screen around 180 before they roll up their ten dollar bill..

but u have not used a hardware device that combines buttons and knobs with a touch screen; its the combination of both that makes it killer.

but yes a tablet by itself wont be hands on enuff; so with the touch screen dj software it will be the same thing the combination of hardware knobs with the touch screen feature set is what takes it to the next level

Bet you the next imaschine update with the ipad pro is going to have a faster workflow than the mpc touch.

    wow, a funny thread :)
from my point of view the new MPC is a logical step into the right direction.
But .... nearly everyone owns a tablet like an Ipad. Put it side by side to the standard maschine controller,
clone the GUI of Maschine Software on your personal computer and you can use touch functionality side by side.
I think the core technology with low latency is available ( see this example http://astropad.com/ ) and
must "only" adapted to our (musicans) needs :)))
Hey NI-Developers, a new task is waiting ;)
    Best regards.

Like what Derax said, the tablet is pretty much becoming a part of every day life and with these new offerings I feel like it is the next logical step for hardware developers to create peripherals that will work for/with them.

The Element/Fly was a great first attempt, and will likely be the model that companies use going forward. It's a shame that it wasn't executed or received as it should have been, but I think with some more R&D it will only be a matter of time that Akai (or whoever) gets it right.

For those looking for that seamless integration and unparalleled user experience, try using an iPad with the Numark iDJ Pro and the djay app, or even the Quneo with Beatmaker 2. NI got it right with The Traktor DJ app and the S4, not sure why they didn't carry that format ove to Maschine.

I hope the new touch delivers and does well; as this will improve NI's maschine development.

so u guys should be rooting for akais success (skins included) as it isin ur best interest.

because when NI feel they have no competition; they are happy to just fob u off with sound packs, bug fixes and fillers.

I promise u that the next few releases will be meaty features instead of bs bells and whistles

    a massive +1 to this..

its a big shame that the embedded windows MPC didnt see the light of day..
To me, buying gear that is dependent on tablets and computers is always viewed as the cheapest best coolest hippest way forward.. but given the rate at which apps and drivers need to be updated, at any point in time we are one o.s. update away from owning a brick... so, while standalone gear may well be viewed as a niche market, its the only set of products that you can expect to be around in 10-20 years and have resale or useful value

I dont see any reason why the systems so called controllers like maschine and the ren wont be around for the next 10 10 years either.
I know there are guys that still sequence on atari software; so I know I can make a standalone PC that I dont upgrade and have my software versions run in a closed environment.

Plus with so many compatibility modes and emulators I feel there will always be ways to run older applications.

and that will probably work out for you but you're the exception to the rule. most people don't want to go through that and a company can't bank on that.
