yup and im sure dan the automator does alot of the gorillaz stuff and that dude has a vintage gear museum in his studio; so somehow I dont think that is completely accurate.

Albarn buys a lot of his vintage stuff in my mates music shop.
BTW in the UK """gear""" has many meanings, not just musical instruments ;)

Wow to me it seems like they did a great job with this controller, looks fun and inspiring. I would consider getting it if it was my very first 'hardware' or software piece of gear

Except the touch input lag is big as hell and the display is like 15 frames per seconds... but hei, it only took Android 4 years to be as smooth as iOS. Call me when they release Akai touch 2019.

Does not add context to the other sort of gear he's consuming and I'm talking about ;).

@jpeg I have a NFR license and never touched a Studio so I could not compare . But I am also the type of guy that doesn't pay for features I already have in my setup (my I/O rig will keep me going for years) and I don't really switch between products that, for the most part, do the same thing in different ways. Unless I feel like it's really hurting my process. Komplete integration at this point is important for me too but maybe the Touch with the KK S-series would be a killer combo.
But that's just me. If I try one and fall in love for it then why not?

@mkotechno yeah I also get that impression from the video even though some say otherwise. but maybe is one of those things you have to do yourself and see how it feels

yup it does no harm to keep an open mind as even the same feature set with a better implementation might spur more creative output.

if you are in love with the ipad or iphone and apps as a music platform then more power to you...after all, folks are free to use whatever they like, and also PREFER whatever they like..

To me, though, using an ipad for music making is like sailing around the world in a 25ft sailboat .. you can do it, but if you dont NEED to, then why would you?

I have $800 invested in an iPad and apps, so for sure i can tell you that someone with a full studio who makes music on an ipad is not doing it because it is easier, or better or faster.. because i guarantee its none of those.... they are doing it simply because they can...

The iPad is no where close to my MacBook Pro bay any stretch of the imagination. But I won't sit her and try to convince you otherwise. You can sit here for the next 3 years hoping NI, Akai, Avid, Apple, Sternberg, etc to release iPad versions of their software. That is your choice. I personally don't need such a product when my Mac Pro/MacBook Pro with the aforementioned software doing just fine.

Besides, jpeg (and I forgot who else) imply that iPads have lags when they conclude that the MPC Touch appears to have one as I am told the performance is identical.

Well that's the point isn't it??

    It CAN BE DONE.

And that's where we are going.

I've been in the game for a while now and I remember making fun of people using Fruity Loops (now FL Studio) and other software for making beats. If you weren't using hardware of some sort, you were playing with toys. Now look how far software has come.

The point I'm making (or trying to) is that if the competition is going touchscreen in any capacity they should at least incorporate one of the best touch screens out there on the market.

Love the ipad because I have imaschine/traktor DJ. I am not picking that to depend on working on a project and traveling to different studios. Instead I role with a i7 laptop windows 10 $500 used off ebay (with warranty), korg nanokey2 $24 off ebay, and a used maschine mikro $112 from guitarcenter with 2 yr warranty. I have more options with the laptop set-up. Eventually the ipad will be able to do more I'm sure.

i don't want an iPad version of the software.

but i do want an iPad App that acts like an interface with Maschine and maybe Komplete Kontrol where i can use it to edit samples, etc, etc.

the next generation of iPads are going to be as good as a laptop, and i am excited by what companies will come up with.

to clarify, i far more excited about the generation of iPads, than i am about MPC Touch.

Stick to what works for you. Ipad is not for everybody.
