The lag on pinch zoom and scrolling a wave is about the same as the the XYFX. Any touch aspect where you have to drag a field, you will notice a lag.

For functions that you have to tap to select, there is no lag. You can use the touch screen to trigger drums or play chords that are as responsive as the physical MPC pads. I posted a video of Geoff demonstrating this in a post yesterday.

When using the Data Dial and Qlinks to control params on the Touch, there is no lag.

Is funny, two weeks ago you said there were absolutely no lag and it was as good as any iPad, now after we have evidences of the lag you change your speech and say it is lagging only in some views. It sound like damage control PR bullshit. You are a joke.

Weird...I only replied what I was told as obviously 2 weeks ago they were not in stores and I didn't touch one (pun intended) myself.

I don't really care to do 'damage control or PR' for any company. I have it in front of me now....and I gave my honest assessment of it and will continue to do so like all the products I possess.

Here is a Sounds For Samplers video of the MPC Touch:

No specific details have been revealed publicly so not much anyone can say even if they did have the lead on the "other stuff."

Look at 6:50 in the video. This is the extent of lag. Look at the location of where is finger moves as compared to the selected region on the touch screen.

looks good are the outs balanced how does the output sound? has it got that typical mpc punch? also how does the vintage mode sound when paired with the touch outputs? in comparison to the mpr ren outputs with vintage mode?

Is it possible to use the APC40 Mk2 to control the Touch?
    And if not, why not?
("Why" is not the question here.... :)
    ( I mean, for $800..)

As much as I hate to help this thread keep on living... the answer would be poor MIDI interoperability. There's a lot of it about - everyone's doing it (or not doing it)

Jahrome , something was bothering me about this thing and I couldn't put my finger on it, but after watching the s4s video it was finally apparent.
the mpc touch is superwack! the only thing wacker would've been if joey was actually chopping up 'you can't touch this' in the demo... I'm very open minded but I'm having a hard time seeing what you and jpeg see in this thing. It seemed like everything Joey did dragged out and was tedious. Literally every impc pro demo vid I've seen has been better than this... now granted I know that the impc pro as an app is not comparable to the 1.9 os but damn still..... why would I not spend the $800 on an iPad with the impc pro, and something like turnado from sugarbytes or some other fx apps, and a pad controller. My point is it's looking like it's losing on both sides, if it was only an iPad app the interaction seems like it would have to be better, and if it was only hardware it just looks like a backwards mpc that doesn't offer much beyond the awkward workflow, the workflow I might add that they already mastered (ain't broke don't fix it)...

so I guess their point is bringing the two workflows together makes it better but I just don't see it, everyone I see working on it looks like they're suffering from the combination. Maybe nobody has had enough time with it yet or I dunno but it doesn't look 'FUN'... and everybody looks like they feel obligated to like it at least so far. I know I could be wrong as I don't have one but I was planning on getting one but I can't see how this is better than an iPad when you factor in everything else you could get for the same price. Does that sound way off mark to you or can you relate?

If impc pro allowed you to export projects it would be the killer app, everything else about it is excellent

i control ipad apps all the time with my mpcs, I don't see the advantage of the touch, you can use your mpc to control the app and then leave and take your iPad with you and continue to use it for 10 hours.
no vsts of course but there's still enough available on an iPad to make me look at the touch sideways.

I haven't used the Audio I/O on the MPC Touch. I use my own 3rd party audio interface.

    @theinvis
I am definitely an MPC head. If there is something wack about a new MPC, I will certainly speak on it. After using the Touch for the past 4 days, I have no interest in going back to my MPC Ren. I put mine in a box and its never coming back out. I can do things faster on the Touch than any MPC that has come before it. It still has pretty much the same workflow as an other MPC.

The workflow you have concerns about is involving the touch interface aspects. It takes some time to get use to it especially if you are not really into things like iPad apps. I am one of these people. Frankly, I am not interested in moving things with my fingers. I only use the Touch screen for navigating between different screens and to select params. I prefer the hardware buttons and knobs to adjust the values of params.

If you can't see how this is better than an iPad....then I just chuck the deuces and say peace.

    MY PROS
    1. Larger, colored Display; every parameter is easy to read
    2. Controls more aspects of the MPC Software than the previous models
    3. Navigation by touch is significantly faster than using cursor buttons
    4 Sample Editing unrivaled
    5. Mixing from Main Mode

    MY CONS
    1. Missing locate buttons
    2. Data Dial

*Note - 1.9 primarily supports the MPC Touch and adds a few new features for existing MPC controllers. You will have to keep your ears to the streets for what is next.

    LMAO
Yeah...the Touch Screen is seen as a secondary display in your operating system. So pressing SHIFT + ERASE enables the MPC Touch to be used as a desktop extender.

I have never used an mpc, but fascination with it is what led me to Maschine to be honest. Years ago, cats would bring them over, and I was intrigued.......but my Korg Triton had a touchscreen back then (it was mpc flow vs triton flow back then, lol), and the small old school mpc screen was not doing it for me. Even with the Ren, it seems like the build quality was great, but damn man, that screen/navigating/menu diving.
It seems like the MPC Touch has addressed those issues, large color screen that provides plenty of info and easier navigating/access to parameters. BUT, I am waiting to see that flagship model, hopefully with more hardware knobs and buttons like the Ren. I too am not interested in moving things with my fingers. I would just use that screen for navigating, naming from the hardware, etc. Thanks for the review.

No problem. I absolutely love this time of the year and look forward to new products.

But I would keep in mind that a potentially new flagship will not be cheap initially. The MPC Touch retails for approx $800 US and you can likely talk down your local dealer to $640 to $680. I would expect a new flagship controller to be in the $1600 range.
