You should do a beatmaking video comparing the ren vs maschine.

Seriously? Us users have been begging NI and Akai to add Scales and Chords for several years. NI just beat Akai to the punch to implement it first. My Fantom had this chords function before Maschine was released..and doesn't Cubase have Chords?Truth be told....there would probably be no Maschine if there was no MPC. So the argument against 'copying' features is pointless, counter productive, etc. The bottom line for me is for NI, Akai, etc to keep adding using requested features......

Naw....that creates division and attracts trolls. Nothing good has come from past discussions and comparison videos. These products are extremely cheap these days as compared to drum machines in the past. You can walk out your local dealer with a Maschine Mikro and MPC Studio for half the price of a new MPC 1000 when it was released.

here it is , check out the part about the chords and scales

    http://createdigitalmusic.com/2015/02/mpc-1-8-update-expands-play-inside-look-developers/

looking good the devs seem very responsive, they say they will create a more elegant way of doing your own chord features so that you don't have to hack the feature, that's thoughtful and a good way to go to please the user and make things convenient for the user so i think they will be open to the desire to trigger chords from an external controller.

LOL. Did you notice at 4:21 where he says that you can deactivate any plugins you don't want to be bothered with they deactivate the Maschine plugins. HAHA. That was funny. I like the guy on the left. The guy on the right gives me chills.

Anyway. I'm really impressed with the speed these guys are working at. I mean they are firing on all cylinders right now. It would be interesting to see what kind of integration with their advanced keyboard they will be doing other than making the VIP software more readily available. I will be getting the MPC studio next month.

That transpose feature looks pretty awesome, and the alternating loops features is something I've been wishing Maschine had for along time.

It seems to me like Akai's strategy is to make the software better to sell more hardware, while Maschine's mantra is sell more hardware and tie new software features to that.

Cool you should post this on the mpc forums where they talk about the ren.

lol good eyes man i didn't catch that.
the way these guys are actively developing and actively communicating with the public and their customers is unbelievably refreshing.... they are confident, and not afraid to talk about short term or long term plans..... they just talked about their new chord features in that create digital music interview they did and now here it is.. other devs would have acted like they can't tell you about features they were only planning to implement 5 years later ffs

this is the akai update thread, don't you have some dry cleaning to pick up, it's not a good idea to keep Mr. Haver waiting, you might lose access to your sample packs.

Seriously speaking though these beat machines are really starting to carve out the spaces they look like they'll be inhabiting for the forceable future....and now I think there will definitely not be too much overlap.... maschine will be the go to for live beatmachine manipulations cause it's so quick on loops and patterns... load up a loop and do stuff to it live not really being to concerned about song composition. Where as the akai will serve better for song composition and production. Maybe this was NI's vision all along and that's why cats that want to throw on a constant 4 on the floor and then mute and unmute top loops over it will gravitate towards maschine as well as folks who want to emulate a machine drum etc... maschine would be the best bet.
Mr. Haver might just might be a genius after all.

Let's hear how you use maschine. What genre of music do you produce?

yeeeeep, a lil bit of the 4000, a lil bit of the asr 10, hmmm what's next.. I love how they seem to genuinely enjoy implementing features even in small updates like dude mentioned at the end..."we could have made this a 1.9 release but we didn't' that's very cool it's like they're saying stay tuned!

1,9 will probably be epic. I think now that they have the code-base in good order they are now focusing on adding features. To NI that's how this stuff works. Rewriting the software then doing almost nothing with is not how it's supposed to work. Just an FYI.

I'm serious though, it's starting to look less and less like they are competing.. of course i know many people will still look at it that way cause we've spent allot of money on maschine and have been making request for years but now that akai is really taking the production aspect of the hybrid beat machine back under it's fold it really lets native instruments focus more on the direction they have been going which really does look like more of a live machine....ie: muting/soling that you can't record, the scene structure/ no song mode being so limited etc..... this methodology is very different from the akai where you can combine scenes/sequences of different tempos and not just that but different time signatures etc... they're clearly on a different path. Native Instruments probably had the foresight to see this all of this time where as users like myself were not as visionary.

this will make having both beat machines hurt allot less, akai will serve well for production purposes if you don't want to use a daw and then peeps will loop up their tracks into machine and play them live whilst doing the sp-303 sample mangling over a beat performances that usually people use the sp-303 for. the kind of thing that Taurus scott does, or the stuff ras g does.... and maschine is dope for that. I'm jazzed cause if maschines further dev continues to focus in this way it will be the sickest Live play machine out there.

I don't know about that. Kiomplete integration alone seems to negate that imo, and if this was Maschine's goal all along there would have been more live oriented features added to the software. As it stands I think it's missing quite a few live oriented features. Live loop recording for example. When 1.8 came out I remember looking all over the place for a live looper to perform live with (I even posted a topic on here about it). In the end I just modified a Reaktor Ensemble but I was never really happy with it. Meanwhile the MPC software has that and the MPC can already be used live, it's not just a production machine.

Also if live was Maschine's focus all along then why did NI market it as a Groove Production workstation. Maschine's layout certianly makes it easier to use live but I don't think it's that much easier than a well laid out MPC set.

Well we'll see how NI responds.
