So you are upset because you can't add your image to your own samples and that's why Komplete is losing grounds to Akai ?
As you mentioned there is a workaround . i mean they try their best as a business . They need to make money at the end of the day , just like you go to work and make money . Regular discounts every now and then , special upgrade prices, e vouchers , holiday gifts ( am loving Riplica) , plugin inclusions , etc etc . What did Akai give you ?

 

Is this something new (note duration like MPC)? How do you access this option?

 

No option on our side it's fixed. Maschine allows sustain notes to play out as played when switching or looping patterns and scenes. The MPC software would chop your notes short.

 

NI is a business, that means that they need to give us products we want. It's that simple. This "aww shucks NI is just trying their best" thing is hilarious. Never heard that one before "C'mon you guys NI is just trying to get by" LOl. Especially for a company like NI. Might as well do the same for Microsoft "C'mon guys Microsoft is just trying to get by and do what they can for their customers" . No one is buying it. NI is a is a big company making big money in a crowded market. Komplete is the defacto package that people get for their DAWs when they want external synths (the margins are probably great considering that most of Komplete hasn't seen any updates in a while. They've commissioned most of the newer content from other developers and sample packs are relatively cheap to make compared to developing a whole new synth and even those are done in parnership with established Kontakt instrument houses), their DJ arm is doing really well for them and Maschine makes them a lot of money (because the margins are probably great). So no, this aww shucks stuff doesn't fly. I can't believe someone even wrote that to be honest.

I know NI has developers, but they all seem to be working on Traktor at the moment and maybe throwing Maschine a bone whenever they feel like it. Even the development effort in Komplete has been lackluster for several years at this point, and like I said most of the interesting things are actually developed by other development houses (pretty much all the effects series are developed by other houses, that includes the VC series, Solid Mix Series, Premium Tube series, Vintage Reverb series), Absynth was actually bought from it's original developer. Even some of the Reaktor patches that are included in Komplete were made or developed by someone else then NI came in packaged it with a nicer UI. The Mouth, The finger, Monark, Razor. Recently they've tapped Twisted Tools. Every now and then they will have the guy who created Reaktor come out with something interesting (Rounds, Spark, and I think Prism).

 

Don't stress it toonska, mezz, and invis have been on here for years repeating the same stuff over again. Just enjoy your maschine.

 

skins one of these days you're going to grow up and understand that sometimes musicians use more than one instrument, like the rest of us, and on that day you will find that making music isn't the same as whether you wear fubu or some other brand, it's not like back in the day if you came outside with those fake fat laces on you couldn't let anybody see it, it's not chucks or addidas, kswiss or prowings. Skins you are going to find out on that day that it's ok to use another instrument in addition to maschine even several. Your eyes are going to get all watery and you're going to look into the mirror and say "is this what musicians do, use instruments to make music, even instruments that were made by different developers...gulp? "
and then you'll answer back..." this feels good... this feels right.... I think I'm going to be okay" and everyone will rejoice in your frolicking.

 

Jahrome I'm kind of astonished at a little detail I noticed in your 1.8.2 post, the parts about 'sequence lengths having the options to be cut off.
this is an incredible attention to detail.... the mpc has a very special way of overlapping after a sequence stops, it's been used often for years in creative ways to let certain samples ring out and its even been requested on this forum for maschine (not by me) because it's got this very organic way of building up and looping when retriggering, sounds very dope but if this new feature in the software is actually giving you the choice to have this type of overlap looping on or off that is probably the coolest 'they didn't have to pay that much attention to detail" feature that I've heard about from you.... am I correct about what this is or does it pertain to something else?

That was a feature that I had asked for since Maschine came out, I don't know how that slide by me. smh.

 

Its been about a 3 year wait but finally the MPC Software performs exactly like a hardware MPC regarding how the sequencer treats sustained notes at the end of a sequence.

You get 3 truncate duration options:

• To Sequence Length to truncate notes when they go beyond the length of the current sequence. When a sequence loops you can be sure that the note will never “play over” itself.
  
  
• To Sequence End to truncate notes to the end of the current sequence. When the sequence loops round, the note will stop playing.
  
  
• As Played to record events exactly as they were played. The note events may overlap as the sequence plays back.
  

 

you mentioned it right there some of the big names in music plugin industry is being published by NI. If it is published by xyz company you wouldn't hear about it as fast. People have confidence when buying from NI because of the endorsement. I know what I get when m buying from NI , I mean have you spent some time with Rounds ? Am having lots of fun producing with it . I figured rather than sit and cry like a baby why not enjoy making music and wait for the next exciting plugin and update s. The only reason am replying back to these posts is because we need to give the truth to future fellow maschine users that there are 5 to 6 Debbie downers but there are lots and lots of happy people . I been a customer since 2005 and am so happy to see NI is making it bigger and making us best plugins we can get . It's normal they offer a plugin I pay for it and we move forward . Yeh if doesn't perform as they promised I know they will fix it .but It doesn't give me owning stocks in the company like how those few acting here self proclaimed share holders . How old is f8 ? It's rocking 2015 In my setup !

 

Some good points organic but I don't understand why you'd think that the music is stopping for anyone, I've heard those kind of comments before it's as if either a person is not needing any improvements from ni and making music or needing improvements from ni and not making any music, and to be honest I don't even know how this notion makes any sense, but from my understanding the people you've been having this discussion with make music everyday, and not just on maschine.

And if you have confidence that when it doesnt work they will fix it, good for you, but it would be a lie to say its true, there is a list of bugs in 2 that have been there from day 1 and are being ignored by NI, just letting future owners know the truth, that seems to be what you want in between the name calling and whatever other stuff.

 

How come your bugs are not on my list ? My maschine is working just as advertised .if it's a workflow preference that you have why not ask for it without bashing NI as a company. Bashing the company will hurt the community , the bigger we are the more popular we become therefore bigger range of updates . if the bugs you mentioned were global and didn't require design re arrangement could have been done now , just saying , but maybe time is not ready yet so be patient. If it's working don't break it, they might be working on a whole new invention with the maschine and maybe that particular feature is a step back I don't know let's see what they come up with this year. Am excited . By the way I don't have maschine studio and am holding back to see what's in it for this year although the current offer is so tempting

Smart to wait and see, but tooshka has been around a weee bit longer than yourself and unfortunately maschine has been through its major complete re-write, don't know if you're aware of that

 

I can assure you I been with NI lot longer than Tooshka the only difference I don't post as much .he sounds like an Akai rep then I think maybe he is passionate about machine but he needs to stick to NI and end the bashing they will more likely to consider his and my ideas

 

Thanks for the interest, the knowledge base is what this forum is all about for me so I pretty much limit my sharing of music to elsewhere, but I'm definitely up for discussing sampling and samplers anytime, I can never learn too much about those things.

 

Back in the day when maschine first dropped things were different, NI was different, but if you go back and check it all out you can see the direction things went. Here's to getting back to that bubbly sentiment... It's a two way street, I personally think ni can have it any time they want it, we've certainly been here waiting for it....I was just telling people yesterday patience is probably going to be rewarded, but their patience definitely has been tested, this is why akai has been able to make the inroads that they have and actually gain back customers that they've lost to ni, I'm not one of them I use everything, don't have a ren but several other akai samplers as well as other devs. What I need is for maschines compositional capabilities to catch up to its sound design prowess = happy camper

 

Agreed , take kore for example .I can do lot more with maschine controllers vs kore controler . They had a vision were things wouldn't reach this far unless they re rewrite kore from the ground up. Yeh we were unhappy I mean we loved kore but for the evolution we had to accept the reality . Was kore marketebility similar to maschine current reach ? There seems to be a road plan for maschine gaining popularity and endorsements. it's taking the flagship spotlight for NI . I can't wait to see how far they go !
