This really is a no brainier, but great companies do great things for there customers. I think we should get some sort of retribution for this whole ordeal, especially if the update doesn’t make it in the time promised. One thing a great company understands is that the C.E.O isn’t in charge, the customers are and they should not be treated like “no-bodies”. NI has pushed the limits of sub par customer service and hasn’t attempted to make things “right” with there customers.

By definition the word Customer means: One that buys goods or services. The word Service means: Installation, maintenance, or repairs provided or guaranteed by a dealer or manufacturer; Assistance; help. The word Lack means: To be without or in need of. We the customer who paid for your goods and services lack maintenance, repairs, guarantee, and assistance. Lets change this!

While I wholeheartedly agree that NI ought to give its customers some kind of compensation, I wasn't very interested in this DVD from the start. So personally I would like to see some other form of compensation. A complete version of one of the pianos in Akoustik Piano would be a nice choice if you ask me (with some alternative for people who already owns it).

The first person to vote voted that the Kontakt Tutorial DVD should not be free to registered users. I assume that it was someone from NI, how bout you come back and leave a reason for your vote.

I want to ask that you leave a brief description of why you chose your vote; I failed to mention that in my starter post but thanks Kotori for doing so.

Well, I'm sure you know why I did. I started a couple of threads a while back suggesting to NI that they give this away to us for having to wait an agonizingly long time for repair of Kontakt2.

When NI realized how many dissatisfied customers there were they freaked out and realized that this was going to co$t them. So, they release the DVD to show the NI flag(so to speak) and to ultimately fund their costly programming mistakes. Brilliant! I say boycott the DVD if they don't give it to us.

...sorry to say this, but after watching the Absynth DVD, I guess, this one isn't worth its money at all...

How about giving every Kontakt owner the opportunity of choosing a product - I'd go for the Guitar Rig 2 or Kore software...

I made that suggestion to NI a while back as well. It fell on deaf ears also. NI really doesn't give a rats ass about us I guess.

I think a discounted price for registered users would be a nice 'thank you'. Seems the price could come down a bit in general. I would be interested in this DVD but not at that price.

...actually I was joking. They would devalue products that have just been released and need to bring in the costs for their development. It's totally understandable that this is not going to happen. But nevertheless considering their recent business decisions I am really mad about NI and I'm curious about their reactions when these might come up at the Musikmesse (...I'm prepared to see a lot of shrugging people - oh, you poor interns...). Some extra samples and scripts, as Marcus indicated earlier, or a discount on this DVD would be appropriate...

There are many great examples of companies providing free tutorial videos for customers. Spectrasonics has really done a great job with the Stylus RMX videos. I think NI could learn from their example...

... also true. One thing I disliked about the Absynth DVD was that I had the strong feeling that a lot of things described in there should have been covered in the manual (...and we all know how poorly NI's are sometimes written - typos, different fonts, whole text-blocks existing twice on a page...). And the interviews with the studio professionals - well... The interview with Brian Clevinger was interesting, but then again nothing which couldn't have also been presented in a written form on NI's website. Looking at the announcement of the Kontakt DVD makes me think that it will be the same overpriced product like the Absynth DVD.
