In regards to the new mac os x system LION.

Numerous Traktor users have reported issues with Lion on their mac system. NI are working on it. However. We as users can provide significant input in this process as well, maybe it will speed up things.

    From the site:
New Macbook Pro owners are stuck with Lion, like I am (downgrading to Snow Leopard is officialy not possible and is hard to do so, won't get into detail about that).

The Kontrol X1 seems to work fine, some reported issues, but after reinstalling new drivers it should work.

However, some reported that they need to reboot the system in order to recognize the Audio 10 interface. While other reported not to have this problem.

Audio skipping is experienced by some too.

With this thread I would like to get some more insight about what the practical status is of Lion. I welcome success stories and even horrific stories. Any input is welcome.

    Here's my input.

I did a live performance yesterday! With my old macbook pro as a backup, just in case.

My new Macbook Pro 2011, shipped with Lion, worked fine for the hour I've played.:D

Here's my configuration. Traktor Scratch Pro 2.0.3. With the latest drivers for Audio 10 and Kontrol X1.

I didn't notice any latency, audio-lag or audio-dropouts. It seemed just normal. Tonight I'm going to play live again (5-hour set). This summer I've played 55 nights, each 5 hours sets with my old Macbook Pro, never had an issue. It was rock solid. It was a really happy marriage Snow Leopard, Macbook Pro 2008 and Traktor Scratch Pro 2.0.3. I hope it will be the same with Lion and 2011 Macbook Pro's.

    reboot required

I purchased a Traktor Audio 10 yesterday. My hardware:

    27" iMac
    3.4 Ghz i7 (quad core)
    8 GB RAM
    OSX 10.7.1

I installed the latest software for Traktor from the NI website and everything worked. I was able to see the Audio 10 in the Traktor Control Panel, the Sound preferences pane, and the MIDI utility for OSX.

Today, after rearranging USB ports, the computer reported that the Audio 10 was connected, but the Audio 10 had the USB light flashing. After unplugging/replugging the USB cable, the Audio 10 light stopped flashing, but the system reported that it was no longer connected in either the Sound Preferences or the Traktor Control Panel. After powering down/up the device, the Control Panel registered that the Audio 10 was connected, but the Sound Preferences still didn't see it. I rebooted the computer, and everything came back up fine.

I miss Snow Leopard and am not pleased that Apple won't easily allow systems to downgrade to SL from Lion when they have Lion installed. I would gladly switch my iMac and my new MBP back to SL to avoid the compatibility issues I'm having with Ableton, Itch, my NS7, and now with the Audio 10.

This was my 2nd weekend I played with 10.7.1. Lion on my new Macbook Pro.

everything went flawless in my 5 hour set.

    @Monachus
I'm not sure if I have this problem too. Because I connect my Macbook and boot it up at the club. I will check next weekend if I can reproduce your issue. I haven't look in my sound preferences at all!

    Vestax VCM-100

Since the Vestax VCM-100 has a built-in Maya 44 USB card, it definitely does not work in OS X Lion, because Maya44 requires Rosetta to work.

My question to the powers that be... Are we going to see an update that will make the VCM-100 compatible with OS X Lion, or, am I going to have to ditch the VCM-100?

This question for everyone... If I do need a new controller, any suggestions for an excellent one without jog wheels that is compatible with Traktor Pro 2.0.3 AND OS X 10.7 Lion!

Maybe you should stick with the VCM-100 if you like the layout, instead of replacing the whole controller grab a new Soundcard, Audio2 e.g. ?

I just like to point out that the ESI MAYA44 USB (also the embedded module inside the VCM-100 and others) does no longer require Rosetta since driver version 2.1.0 which we have released in March this year. This driver with the included control panel also works under OS 10.7 Lion and can be downloaded on the ESI website.

    Danke Schön!

You beat me to it! :D

I was about to paste your E mail to me to update everyone. Apparently, the information on Vestax's website concerning Maya44 USB is incorrect.

BTW, Claus over at ESI was very responsive and gave me an update on a "Sunday evening" when I wrote to him directly about this issue. That's dedication! Vielen Dank!

OF COURSE, it's actually moot now... as I later discovered. I also regularly use Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Toast Titanium 10 and they are all having a couple of compatibility issues that are making me now hold off on upgrading with Lion until THEY can solve their issues with an update!

Having read your issues with Lion, I start to detest Apple, for the very first time, for misusing their power and policy they lately develop. They will be more evil than MS someday.

I don't see it that way Bud... I'd still rather have the original than an imitator! :D

I get annoyed at some of Apple's moves, like pulling out of Macworld in San Francisco, which I attended every year for the last 16 years... but this year it was so sad and iphone/ipod/ipad centric that I'm reconsidering next year... but overall, I'm happy with the benevolent dictatorship as long as it produces the desired technology.

Look at it this way... you wouldn't buy a car that crashes twice a day and turns left when you want to go right... why buy an operating system that has all the features we already had in OS 8? :D

    Degrading

I had to disconnect power to my Audio 10 the other day while moving some cables around. Now I can't get OSX Lion to see it at all. I've rebooted my computer, reconnected USB cable - nothing. I'm going to reinstall Snow Leopard. Nothing works with Lion - SSL is broken. Itch is broken. My Audio 10 is broken. Touchable is broken. A bunch of other apps are broken. The only thing about Lion that I _do_ like is the full-drive encryption, but that's not worth the rest of the headache.

I read an article referring to Lion as "Apple's Vista," and I think that they're right.

I didn't think lion would have the proper functionality but I seem to be up and running without a hitch.

I'm very sorry that Monachus has troubles.

About the repowering the Audio 10, I had this once. BUT my MacBook Pro, shipped with Lion, recognized it again.

I don't think I can reproduce this error. But I just re-plugged the power cable and that worked while Traktor Pro Scratch 2, with all latest drivers, was open.

I still love Apple, but they released this Lion beast too early. I hope they will live up to their reputation soon again. Being stable, solid with good software etc. etc.

Kontrol x1 Crashes Traktor Pro 2

    I have a 2010 Macbook Pro, 2.4ghz 4gb ram 500gb HD.

I've been using Traktor for almost 2 years now and it has never crashed before, Im surprised on how stable its been!

I recently upgraded to LION and Noticed that my AUDIO 10 wasn't recognized when i resumed using after i put the laptop to sleep or close the lid. I have to Restart my Laptop.

Then Noticed that when i unplugged the Kontrol X1 TSP2 would crash.

    Never happened before.

There might be a fix on this already, if so please point me into the right direction! Thanks

I got my new MackBook pro i7 15" with Lion a couple of days a go and used it last night for a live performance with Kontrol S4 and Traktor Pro2. I was really disappointed because after approximately 2 hours Traktor crashed down, the music stopped and I had to restart the software. Any idea what could it be? It seems strange to me because Mac is new and updated and also Traktor and Drivers for S4 are up to date. Battery wire was plugged in. Any advice would be appreciated.. thanks, Giacomo.
