    Is this common?

It's not the end of the world, but it certainly can be annoying with flow and live situations.

It would be nice to know if I'm the only one, or if it happens regularly.

    Thanks!

are you saying some knobs are loose and some are tight, or, the values they change some jump way up while some change slightly? You can always hold SHIFT while turning the knob for a "tighter" more accurate tweak.

some of the knobs are really loose and some are tight, yes.

I'm wondering if this is a manufacturing defect, or do other people have this issue.

I was hoping this might be the case with mine, but long-term excessive use of a Mk1 and more recent, shorter-term excessive use of a Mk2 and they both still had "odd knobs". It can be a bit annoying, but, to me, it's not worth the hassle of losing my controllers for weeks on end sending them back. Nor is it any more annoying than any of the range of issues in the software. :p

They couldn't tell me anything specific. They just asked to explain the issue. Now, I will send my unit back because Im still in the 30days-period (germany). Then I will just order a new unit from another shop. And if it doesn't work properly I will order the next one. Not willing to accept any more compromises. I mean it's 1000 €!
This really sucks generally. Maschines have problems with their knobs. The Push has problems with the pads.
The only device that works without any problems is my Novation 49 SL MkII. I love this Keyboard!

All my knobs on maschine(mk1) are same tightness/looseness depending on how you look at it. Ive used it for like 5 years or something now. I had an issue with some keys on my novation(although an impulse) and took it back. Just goes to show. Win some loose some.

That's pretty pathetic of NI to keep manufacturing a product with noted defects/annoyances.
They did replace my original unit with another unit. Unfortunately the replacement unit was even worse.
I will try and avoid NI hardware in the future. I definitely "lost some" on this one.

They definitely seem to have a Quality Assurance issue....
