I thought I was doing something wrong until I read through the manual and found this:

Section 11.2 - Sample Deck Quick Reference

"KEYLOCK indicator: Not used (no Keylock on Sample Decks)."

    OMG. SERIOUSLY?

Please, please tell me there are some plans to change this. I'm literally stunned at this point.

Yep, I saw it too. Kept looking in the settings and stuff, but couldn't find it either :)

This is REALLY, REALLY disappointing. IMHO, it pretty much makes the sampler decks worthless if you play in key. No, I take that back. It pretty much makes the sampler decks worthless PERIOD.

I'm just stunned. I really am. What a terrible decision NI.

Well, it's not that I have many problems with it. My track decks are keylocked and when I make a loop or something it's not a big problem. Only thing is when you pitchbend on it, you'll hear it compared a keylocked deck ofcourse.

But yeah, they should've implemented the keylock feature on the sampler decks.

workaround = record the loop keylocked at the bpm you need in a regular deck and save it?

Jup, that's what I do. But like I said, you'll still notice the problem when you'll pitchbend the loop on the sample decks and it's already "On Air".

I don't think this is an issue to freak out about yet. The samplers are a brand new feature and I can see how NI would want to roll out things piece by piece to make sure that they are solid and bug free.

Except that the function has nothing to do with tempo. You are try to keep the pitch or key of the music the same. Hence keylock or pitchlock are better names. However it's not something I would get upset about so if mastertempo works for you then go for it. :)

Yeah I get you. Always used it on my CDJ's though. It's a good method to hide pitch bend corrections.

you'll be never happy with anything, right?

think twice about it and reduce it to one word: performance.

it's not like NI didnt think about it or didnt want it to happen.

Key locking the sample decks would be the same as key locking 10 regular decks if you count the two track decks that are key locked as well. I can understand why they didn't implement it, but having it would be nice. Hopefully they can figure something out.

i understand this may be a performance issue.. however.. if you record a 4 beat sample from your keylocked deck A.. shouldn't the sample be the same key as when recorded?

now lets say you play this same track next time at a different tempo and want to use the same recorded sample.. this sample is now off key to the track..

how can this problem be solved

You'd have to load the sample into a regular deck and resample it.
