i haven't updated to Pro Tools 9. but i have always found recording MIDI into Pro Tools - 7 and 8 - a frustrating experience.

this is just my personal taste.

i like Beat Detective and Elastic Audio in Pro Tools though.

I sold Maschine thinking I needed a change up in gear.

2 days later I realized my mistake and within 3 weeks re bought Maschine.

Buying and selling on Craigslist makes it painless, plus I got a newer version in the end.

don't give up maschine man... maybe just start your track with a sample that way you have nothing except the sample to start with

I really just started sampling old songs with maschine and I had it since the first year of release.

blues try this for some practice.

    Get some drums going

On another group Load a wav sample or loop to pad 1

Make sure you know the tempo of the wav or loop b/c maschine is not always 100% accurate at the tempo

If its a pre-made loop or you know the tempo of the wav you can skip edit and go to slice.

Make sure that the temo match. Make settings in the header as- detect Grid- 1/8 slices.

Apply to any other pad and play. you will hear that maschine made a pattern with the samples, this may not be the right pattern but you can edit a easier way.

There is videos all over the net. you gotta practice. Dont give up Maschine is a powerful tool. The 1 thing that I find people dont understand is there is no right or wrong way to use maschine so every person has to find their own way thats most comfortable to themselves. It takes a little time to master Maschine.

And Imma keep it real with you Dont think you just gonna get right on down and make FIRE without learning maschine tips and tricks knowing all about everything...

@OP Your attitude is indeed that you are growing to seriously compose 'your' music. Keep going forward. Actually the resampling method is a bit outdated , also releasing song using resampling w/o permission is illegal. Fully composing your song brings you higher stage. Stop stealing other artists' effort. Good luck!

Hey, this forum has a meme now!

Anyone who signs up and immediately begins extolling the virtues of making real music, you know, with wood resonator boxes that have strings and parts of animals and **** (oh, they don't use animal parts anymore? nevermind.) and scolding anyone who dares sample anything for any reason ever—is an alien_brain.

(Also, is it just me, or does that post read like it was written in English, translated into another language with Google translate, then translated back into English? "Fully composing your song brings you higher stage"? What the hell?)

I play catgut strings (guitar) and sample so to me it's all good. Sampling is another form of creative expression...even when someone take a loop of another persons music and samples it....I don't care if it's chopped or not (although I usually chop my samples) The fact that a small section of another persons music captured their attention to the point that they believe that, that small section of music should be turned into a complete musical work in itself is very creative....I don't care what anyone says.

And when combined, you get Freshly Baked Beat Cookies. Two great tastes that taste great together.

(Check out this dude's Soundcloud. Good stuff, great boom-bap beat swing with some interesting/unexpected sounds.)

Then I will tell in other way. Resampling is already too old‐fashioned to use. Don't steal other artist's work or you won't get your song better than now. haha get your life rather than nitpicking noobs.
