Ok guys, I am heated right now. So I bought my Maschine off of eBay and was told that it was the full version. Well since money is tight and I have to sell it, I call NI to transfer my license and they reveal to me it is the EDU version and I can't sell it. WTF do i do! Should I contact eBay and get my money back somehow?

whoah! that's weird. You were never aware it was an EDU version when you bought and registered it? Like NI didn't inform you? Or it didn't say in the user license or something? sorry to hear about your predicament. Hope it gets sorted out

Need to sell Maschine, looking for some compensation help me NI TEAM!

Hi all, I am in major distress right now. I bought a NI Maschine off of eBay that marketed it as the full version, and just now I am finding out that it is actually the EDU version. I have contacted eBay, Paypal, and tried messaging the seller but I am sure he won't respond. I spent $490 on this thing, and really wish to be compensated. I was told to contact the manufacturer even though I am sure nobody wants to compensate me because it isn't there problem. Please somebody help me.

Listed as brand new. Not sure whether he was either of those. Check his page out here - http://myworld.ebay.com/cr2424?ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1181

You guys, weird issue. I went into Maschine and checked and it says the Version type is "Full" although the guy on the phone who looked up my serial said it was EDU.

There is the possibility that NI put the wrong Serial Number card in the box.

Look at the very bottom of the box and you will find a barcode label.

If it is an Educational version it would say something like "Machine EDU FUL".

There are FUL (full) versus UPD (Update) versus UPG (upgrade) and there is RTL?(Retail) versus EDU (Educational).

If your box says Retail then NI put the wrong Serial Number card inside. If your box says EDU then the Seller sold you the wrong product and your only recourse is through the Seller.

If you check this sellers feedback he has already sold NI items as FULL that are actually EDU before.

In fact i would even say that the EDU Maschine you received is one that has already been sold and returned by a member of the DJ Forum.

Im afraid that this seller is getting away with this despite my bringing him to the attention of NI.

Here is the thread that was in the DJ forum:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114490&highlight=ebay

Its the same eBay seller and if NI check out the Maschine registration i bet its the same Maschine.

If i were you i would YELL as loud as i can at eBay to shut this guy down.

Sorry man, its sucks. You can see my anger in the DJ thread.

The Seller knows damn well what hes doing. He is ripping people off.

I will make a new report for Support about this.

Karlos- I am glad to see you posting. I googled it to see if it had happened before and your name popped up on the forums. This guy needs to go, I am going to send him a message and if he doesn't respond, I will take him to court. I will also message others and strongly suggest they take the same legal action!

I have just emailed Support with links to both threads. I hope someone can do something about it.

The seller did refund the guy in the DJ forum and was very compliant as the buyer sent a polite but firm email. I suggest you take the diplomatic route as is always the best way to proceed on eBay. If he does not comply then go in all guns blazing.

Make him aware that you know the history of the product and that you know your rights.

Let me know how you get on.

I hope you get it resolved.

Amen to that Karlos! I'm just hopeful that since I just realized 3 months later that it is an educational version, that the timeline hasn't expired for me.

The thing is how would you know unless you tried to sell it.
He has mis-sold an item, period.
He has broken eBay rules and also his contract with NI as an educational seller.

Which ever way you slice it the guys a crook.

You have a couple of options, which may or may not be the right thing to do:

    1) You can sell it and let the buyer share your login/registration id so that they can install it, and then on the next paid upgrade it can be changed from educational to full version.

    2) You can unregistered all your other NI products and then re-register them to a different account and let the buyer use the previously registered account.

Like I said I don't know if that's right or not but those are two options.

    Problems here:

Sharing Login/Reg details is a breach of the EULA. Who knows when or if there will be a paid update to Maschine?

Educational Items cannot be unregistered. They cannot be re-registered because they cannot be transfered.

    Its a sticky one...

Yeah that's what I was saying, I wasn't sure if it was right (allowed) or not. I'm sure there will be a paid update, I just don't know when.
