Not a direct answer to this question, but along a similar line....

If you have a Mac with Logic Pro or a PC with Cubase, it's amazing what you can do on a relatively low-spec computer. For example, I have a Dual G4 desktop as my main computer, but I can send my Waves Plug-ins to the APA32 and let it do the processing on those, I can send Logic's built-in plugs to my MacBook Pro and let it handle those, and then let my wife's Mac Mini handle something else--all over a simple gigabit ethernet switch. My CPU never gets high.

I believe that Cubase and Nuendo have similar abilities, but I don't use them so I couldn't tell you for sure.

    hey Laccer,

    Core Duo E6400 2.13 GHZ
    ASUS P5B Deluxe
    DDR2 Kingston 2GB
Western Digital Caviar 7200 SATA 300 500 GB
    Geforce 7 7900 GT PCIE
    Windows XP Pro

And i was only at 40% with all of them running at the same time, but that fricking battery plugin still crashed out.

Can't believe that Usage of 40%. Not with that system. Anyway. Battery 3 works fine for me. Until now...

Wow. Sorry, but they are right. There are big problems with the newest round of NI plugins. I've had severe problems with the vst versions in os x with Cubase 4 and Tracktion 2. Definitely not pilot error. I can't use the software right now, especially Absynth 4.

I'm not one to call NI a terrible company, etc - but from glancing at this forum, they don't seem to communicate very well. That's a shame.

This is on the wrong page, I know, but was just wondering if any of you guys are having issues with Reaktor 5 as well, causing clicks and pops when you load it up as a VST in Cubase. My CPU meter randomly jumps up to over 50% and everytime it does it I get a nasty click or pop.

Basically means I cant use Reaktor or Battery, and considering their two of the flagship products, kinda stinks.

Any suggestions on what could be causing the clicking, and what I could do to stop it? Any help would be much appreciated.

    BRegards,

    AK.

First of all write to support if you haven't.

I can use both in SX 2 without problems. Reaktor 5 is crashing from time to time.

But I don't know what's causing your problems. Maybe it's your Core Duo?

I have lots of troubles with battery3 and Fm8 (G5 single and logic 6).

The gui of both miss the lower part. Battery produces pops while playing, automation works not right, delay does´nt synchronize.....and some more!

i found out my version of logic is no longer supportet, so no updates will work for me.
i thouht about to update on logic on 7, but i´m shure in between next months i hear sorry, single mac´s can not be further supportet .... a never ending game!

i like the products of NI, but getting some more poeple employed by testing the software before selling would be a good idea.

Most of you's probably allready have this done, but just in case, I switched my audio priority to very high (default setting is 'high') in the settings of Cubase SX, and no more pops and crackles and spikes.

    Safe,

    AK.

Some of them are actually trolls. Try not to let it bother you. They love it when you reply to their crap. Makes them feel like they are important or something. - Orbit-50

I was thinking about getting B3; already have B2 on a 2.53 GHz P4 with 1 gig ram (max the laptop will take) running WinXP Home, SP1. But after seeing this thread, I'm going to be putting off that purchase.
Yes, NI may CONFIRMED bugs; that doesn't that they'll fix them. Somebody actually got to talk to tech support? Is this the California phone number? Tried that route a couple of years ago for some issues I was having and no one EVER answered the phone. Just kept getting the loop messages. And email tech support? You'll have better luck getting Bush the Second to admit he messed-up by going to Iraq. Ain't gonna happen.

From where I stand, once you get Battery 3 to load and work, you can use it OK as long as you stick to the default kits. Luckily, there are some excellent kits in there as well.

Once you start customizing, you run into a shitload of problems, most of which have been described somewhere on this and other forums.

Too bad, the product really has a lot of potential.

And I did get several replies when I had trouble starting up battery 3. The guy from support told me that the problem was my Yamaha 01X, which "takes anywhere upwards from 30 minutes to initialize". When I told him that I had no trouble using tens of other VST's including Battery 2, Pro-53, Absynth 3 he kinda fell silent.

In the end I found a workaround myself, so now I can at least start B3 as a VST. Standalone is not working, but tech support said "it is just a new product, there are bound to be problems, those will get fixed in time". That is several months ago, and I still have to start up cubase and load B3 before I can play the e-drums.

To cut it short, it "works" but not how it should work. I'd give it a 6 out of 10, but then I'm nice and friendly.

I don't use any of those default kits. I only use Battery with my own samples and the only problem I have with that -compared to using a default kit, is that I have to remap the midi notes once.

Sadly there is no alternative to Battery of what so ever, imo
But once they get it all fixed it will be a really really great tool.

    (from the Company info section)

I really want B3 - but it seems this strategy of 'relentless expansion' is coming with a cost: quality.

I must admit I was concerned when I read on these forums of problems across the board on pretty much all of NIs products and the endless release of new products/versions.

A re-focus on quality, testing and getting things right seems overdue.

I think I will wait for a couple more patches before going for B3.

Guess Im the lone voice of balance on this thread. I love NI and especaially Battery. Had a few minor glitches, but the rate they have developed recently has sailed them way ahead of the competition in terms of functionality and sound.

Ill live with a few glitches (as long as they get patched relatively quickly) in favour of brilliant new tools which push the way I make music.
