    Hi all,

I'm looking to get two turntables going with an A6 soundcard. I already have the traktor Z1, so would I need to get an external mixer? ideally I'd prefer not to go that route

    thanks in advance!

Z1 IS a mixer ,although it is a MIDI one.... You could use it to scratch (along with the A6 you want to go with), but it would be laggy compared to an analog mixer.

I'm not too concerned about the lag at the minute, I just want to use it as a stepping stone until I can afford a 4 channel mixer. So the turntables could plug directly into the A6 audio interface along with the Z1?

headphones can go into the Z1 ;)

traktor has to be in internal mode and the phono connections have to be done with the A6.

don't you need to aggregate z1 & A6 in order to use them both?

ah wait. totally forgot for a second that the Z1 does have a soundcard too. it depends how it is setup internally (headphones hardwired or not). so, you're probably right. i have to check that out.

I'm assuming the Z1 could just use the USB connection and then headphones could go to the A6..?

I think that this is the easiest way. Audio 6 for.... Audio.. :p , z1 only for MIDI/HID controll.

My only concern is cueing? I'm not convinced I'll be able to cue between decks using the audio 6

You can cue with internal mode and the A6 has enough outputs to do the job!

The cabling would look something like
    Turntable 1 to A6 Input A
    Turntable 2 to A6 Input B
Master Output from A6 Main Output
Monitor Output from A6 Headphone Output

As I'm not an A6 user - I'm not entirely sure if the headphone output is separate to the Main Output - but you could always use one of the Deck A or B outputs.

^^^ This! Cueing is done internaly and the selected deck for cue is routed through HP out ,or what other output you choose from the audio setup. You can even blend Cue with the Master mix audio in your HP like any other mixer (through software of allways....)
