Iv'e had maschine for 4 months now and im pretty shocked you new guys didn't realise it didn't have time stretch untill you actually bought it?

I know it seems a basic feature in a producer mind frame but surely you looked up maschine and reviews of it online before splashing out on getting one? If so you would easily discover that it doesn't have time stretch as it always gets brought up on any maschine forum aswell as actual reviews on the net and youtube etc.

Its been on the cards for the long time on NI's part and i have heard numerous times that they are going to feature it within an update - how long that will be is merely down to rumour and speculation. I agree and back everyone who wants time stretch 100% --- i myself need it as a hip hop producer and the maschine has become the heart of my production. Not having time stretch has not effected all the thousands of other hip hop producers who use maschine. It's just a matter of using another DAW to time stretch your sample before then dragging it into maschine. Im so used to the new workflow that i use now that it really doesnt bother me anymore. I use fruity to time stretch my sample and basically prepare it maschine.... bounce it out as wav time stretched and already cut into loops (takes me 10mins at most) then the fun begins with maschine.... I agree still that we need time stretch as id rather have a workflow solely on my maschine then having to touch a DAW like fruity to prepare my sample loops etc. Its been a long time coming so hopefully we getting closer? Havn't heard anything official though

I don't see it, the only i see it that it will be implemented when it's ready. This post was done June 2010. So I figure it will take some time for it to be in there.

I do hope that whenever 2.0 will be released that this will be one of the features that's in there.

I see where you are heading, but sometimes I don't really know the pace of my beat and would like to adjust timestretch as I move on, so it preparing it in Live doesn't cut it for me.

Yes, that was the point I was making in response to KrakInek, so we may be talking at cross-purposes. If you're asking about the implementation, or whether it'll use the Kontakt time machine pro algorithm, I don't know and they haven't said... except that it'd be an on-line process (like Kontakt).

Non mousey & non destructive workaround:

'Stretch' your loop to fit the bar by tuning the sampler's pitch settings.

Then use any pitch-shifting VST to compensate the pitch.

what do you hip hop guys use timestretch for? I always just pitch the sample to make it fit my sequence

MPC timestretch is an offline process and uses a very basic low quality algorithm. It can't touch today's high quality realtime timestretch that you can use in Maschine right now via plugins. NI has already said built-in timestretch is coming to Maschine and that it will work in realtime and based on the quality of Time Machine Pro in Kontakt 5, you don't have anything to worry about.
You don't need to prepare it in another program. You can do it all within Maschine using any VST/AU plugin that does timestretching like Kontakt, Reaktor, Melodyne...etc. and there are also free plugins like stwETCH and Speedster.

There's even a Reaktor timestretch ensemble for using in Maschine:
