Today is the last day that a crossgrade could be happening for me at only 185 Euros.
Who here is already using Komplete 8 and would say "it's a MUST!" ?
Also I am curious, since I am starting to run out of disk space, could one just throw in a second drive and use that to install all his vsts to?
May be a very naive question but I never installed my stuff anywhere else but the standard vst folder on C.

    thx.

A real must, yes, integration of all instruments, logic of the inst choice (ie midi studio drummer patterns that can be directly used to trigger battery maps), future price to k9 upgrade, and all that just for the price of masive...
    Don't hesitate ;)

I'm an 'Ultimatist'! Don't regret it. I will say, however, that if you don't need something, you don't need it at any price.
But even if only a couple of the products in it tickle your fancy, this is the time!

it most certainly is not a must..

I think the better question is to ask yourself if your music is currently limited by the synths and vst you currently own.

If your music is not limited by this, then consider Komplete 8 "nice to have"

I agree its definitely NOT a must. However, the sonic palette it affords you is HUGE, and at the current price its an amazing bargain. I bought both Maschine and K8 at double the current price and I have no regrets. Just having Kontakt makes it worth it to me - not to mention Battery 3, Reaktor, Absynth, etc.

You should have no problem moving your VSTs to one location, and all sample content to another. I would arrange your drives so that there are not multiple VST and sample locations though. If all your samples won't fit on one drive - maybe get a larger drive.

Thanks for all the opinions. I don't feel limited by the synths and vst I currently use, but i think it'd be something that is really fun to explore and toy around with. And the price is really tempting. So I guess I'll go for it :)

i was looking for a 'goto' synth like Massive. I dont particularly need K8 but when the crossgrade costs less than 2 normal plugins and you get 27, its a no brainer :)

It is great just for the synths as somebody mentioned above.
In my case, I sold Reaktor for 100euros and battery for 75 euros. With this crossgrade, I got everything back + much more...for 10 euros?

i hate to say this, but I really don't know what to do with Kontakt:eek:, i must RTFM

You really should have another disc for banks and samples etc...It works much better, you take the strain off the system disc...
K-8 is not a must, but if you can afford it, it is great:D

agree with most posters, the price of K8 is worthwhile.
on the external drive for vst and samples etc:
anyone using usb 3 hard drive?
my laptop has 3 ports, 2 of which are usb 3.
if i can hook the external drive up to one of those that would be good,
i recall reading somewhere issues with maschine and recent usb versions
although that may be for maschine itself.

hope original poster took the plunge.
