To: NI - Which TDJ version will support new annouced S4mk3 / S2 ?

In case anybody from NI is reading this forum ....

do we need a new TDJ version for the updated S4 and s2 (announced today) ?? .. currently confusion is complete
- both devices speak about Traktor Pro compatibility (Traktor pro 3 in Nov), what about (old) TDJ ? .. is a new version needed ?
- the new S2 has an iOS port, the S4mk3 not .. and TDJ supported hardware (old S4 and S2) can not longer be ordered ?
- or will TDJ not longer support any S4 (S2 only) ??

So hopefully the 'future solution' will be a kind of TDJ 'next generatiion', then all is fine .. what we need is a DJ app which is as great as TDJ today ... or even better. some of us moved from TPro to TDJ only (using NI controller S2,S4,Z1), as we feel future in DJ is portability. And i do not speak about bedroom DJ only, some pro user use it in gigs and clubs.

I always considered the iphone+s2 combo kinda like pioneer’s xdj rx but better.

Hopefully the s2 and or s4 will be open to other apps perhaps?

 

Yes, but i feel most of us wished a TDJ successor with 4 deck support, or small controller support like Z1but with transport buttons like X2 ... would be so amazing

 

I agree. I was so sure, that we'll see a new Traktor DJ with S2/S4 mk3-Support in October. To hear that there is nothing of that sort planned is a big bummer. I still have a glimmer of hope that we hear about a Traktor DJ update.

 

Maybe in about 2 years every computer will be a tablet.

 

Geez! I just bought the S2 Mk3 thinking I could use the tablet with it... Why wouldn't I (and the various online tech reviewers) not assume this?! The rig has a USB port on the back and even the NI demo dude said it was something to look forward to in the video!

 

It says this on the NI S2 mk3 product page write up - "An iOS port makes the
TRAKTOR KONTROL S2 ready for even more portable DJing solutions in the future".
(Not compatible with the current version of Traktor DJ.)
