I purschase B4 full version and then used that to upgradre to NI komplete 2.

I installed B4 useing the komplete 2 installer. I dont see any toneweels. Do I have to uninstall from komplete 2 and install from my orginal b4 cd? I never installed B4 from the master disk so i would not even know if the tonewheels are included in either package

    Thanks

the tonewheels are not included with komplete2. you will need to install from your other b4 cd, assuming you bought it after the tonewheels became part of the package

I'm in the same situation and have two questions:
    1. Where do I find the tone weels, should the show up as their own VSTi's or are they just presets in B4?

2 Can I install toneweels from B4 CD after the Komplete 2 installation?

I was under the impression that the Tonewheel sets would be included in Komplete 2, since Komplete 2 is advertised as being the full versions and libraries of the included plugins, and the full version of B4 is now including the tonewheel sets.

    Me too

This is one of the big reasons that contributed to my Komplete 2 buying decision, so I'm somewhat dissappointed they are nowhere to be seen.

I would say their advertising is certainly on the edge of being misleading.

I am shocked to find that it is not included. The B4 synthesiser is advertised as including these additional tonewheel sets. We have not been sold the B4 as advertised in NI's literature.

NI - you are obligated to provide the tonewheel set to Komplete 2 users! I suggest that you place it on the update page with all haste.

I encourage other Komplete 2 users to start making a fuss. Our case here is crystal clear.

    Indeed

Well, yes, I think they should be given the opportunity to rectify the error before we take the appropriate action.

What is the official way to establish their intentions on this matter? Does anyone know?

    Lost in Translation

If you take a look at the German site, at the very bottom of the Komplete 2 page it says that the Tonewheel Set is not included (according to the online dictionary).

The same text is nowhere to be found on the English page.

I was pretty shocked as well. If you look at the detail page for Komplete 2 on www.sweetwater.com (a pretty major music retailer), the text totally implies that the Tonewheel Set is included.

I hope that NI decides to make it available by download given the ambiguity.

I don't know if it was intentional or an oversight, but the current NI website language certainly implies that the full versions of these instruments (read: tonewheels) would be included (emphasis mine):

"Native Instruments created NI KOMPLETE 2 for the musicians and producers who want to have it ALL..."

ALL eleven products, including the four extensive sample libraries, are located on 2 DVDs. This lets the ENTIRE package be installed in one go, allowing you to get straight to making music and producing with NI KOMPLETE 2.

With NI KOMPLETE 2, new customers get an extensive and extraordinary COMPLETE package full of high-quality NI instruments at a very affordable price.

NI KOMPLETE 2 includes the Mac OS X and Windows XP versions of ALL products...

The product sold is not as advertised.

Does anyone have the energy to get in touch with NI about this? Tech support just emailed me back saying that "The tonewheels do not come with the Komplete 2 bundle." Obviously this needs to be taken to the management. They will resist, as they no doubt intended the German and the English text to be identical. Nevertheless, they are not, and those of us who in good faith bought the bundle expecting it to come as advertised with the FULL version of B4, are entitled to the tonewheel set. I don't have the energy at the moment to push this with them, it could take some effort. Ultimately it is probably class-actionable. I really like NI, and want to see them thrive, but they ought to sort out this mess.

    I was under the impression that the Tone Wheels would be included as well... especially as it says the following on the website;

    "Includes additional Tonewheel set:
All B4 full versions now include the B4 Tonewheel Set Vintage Collection without additional charge."

Surely the B4 included with Komplete 2 is the full version?

    Re:

No, unfortunately it's not. I got a reply from NI, and they explained:

"Komplete 2 does not include the B4 vintage tonewheel set.
the Komplete 2 package is a bundle and cannot be regarded as "B4 full version"."

It's shitty, but I don't think they're gonna budge on this one. Hopefully they'll at least fix the English for future customers.

    How can they reply
"Komplete 2 does not include the B4 vintage tonewheel set.
the Komplete 2 package is a bundle and cannot be regarded as "B4 full version"."

when they have this text describing Komplete2

"All instruments are included in the full individual versions"

This is totally misleading, and the same thing goes for the FM sounds vol 1.

If they in the German marketing material have made a note regarding this, they clearly are aware it's a deviation from the "full version", which have to be mentioned in the specs, but theys haven't for the English market. So I think its only fair they change the marketingmaterial, and arrange a download for the customers who bought it before the change were made.

    The B4 web page says:

    The Komplete 2 box says:

Obviously since the NI packaging says that KOMPLETE 2 contains the *FULL* version of B4 organ and their website says that the *FULL* version of B4 organ includes the tonewheel organ set... then NI must make the Tonewheel organ set available to Komplete 2 customers, otherwise they have misrepresented a product that they have sold.

For Native Instruments to say this:

Is in direct disagreement with their own website and product packaging.

I have made their sales department aware of this discrepancy after getting no additional information from Tech Support.

One other quote the package of the NI Komplete 2:

*All instruments are included in the full versions."

Good luck on getting NI to do anything they don't want to. I had to fight tooth and nail just to get them to answer an e-mail regarding getting Reaktor Session registered online when it first came out. When I raised holy hell in e-mail because I didn't get a response, the US tech guy told me that I shouldn't complain, because how did I know if he'd gotten my earlier e-mail messages or not? I'd have been fired from my technical support position if I'd *ever* spoken to a customer like that.

I no longer look for any direct support from NI, I try to get help via the forums. If the software is broke, I don't expect them to ever fix it, buyer beware.

    ok, now what?

Right, so there could be some "legal" issue...

but what about those of us who BOUGHT the tonewheels disc previously, and can't use it with Komplete 2???

that upsets me just as much as not having it bundled with K2....

either way, I think I'm certainly entitled to some kind of answer........ and a working tonewheels set!

    peace,
    tribalogical

PS: Aside from this, I'm pretty damned pleased with K2! :)

    slight modification

    I need to specify:

I can't use my tonewheels disc with a FRESH install of Komplete 2 on my powerbook. I am successfuly using the tonewheels on my tower system, where I "upgraded" from all the previously installed plugs (at the time I bought the Komplete 2 upgrade).......

There must be a way to do this.

I'm tired of reinstalling B4 over and over though...

    time to write tech support......

    peace,

    workaround.......

This probably won't be of any help to people who first bought the B4 as part of a Komplete package, but....

I found a workaround for getting my tonewheels into the Komplete 2 B4. Key to this, I think, is the fact I already owned the B4 prior to buying into Komplete 2, as you will see....

The clue was this: On my tower system, I "upgraded" from a number of previously owned NI plugins, to the Komplete 2 package. For whatever reason, I still have fully functioning tonewheels there.

On my Powerbook, the B4 was first installed only as part of a fresh Komplete 2 DVD install...

I added the tonewheels by inserting the tonewheels CD, and then running the "updated osx" installer. Everything seemed to install fine, but then the B4 asked for the disc with the file "B4" on it, and wouldn't recognize anything.... then, the B4 simply wouldn't run (saying to insert Komplete DVD 1 or 2, and relaunch the program).

So, I reinstalled the B4, updated all the way to 1.1.5, and installed the tonewheels. Then I deleted all B4 preferences files (from both the main Library & User Library), and launched the B4 again. This time, it asked for the "Install CD" (not DVD!), and it used the B4 file on that disc to "authorize" (or whatever it's doing), and now all is running fine.

    "There be Tonewheels here, Captain!"......

Now, as i said, I'm not sure this is any help if you didn't own the B4 prior to buying Komplete, AND, I would say, do this at your own risk. I have no idea if this has introduced old "non-Komplete" authorizations into the picture, but the "B4" files sure looked the same to me (size, date stamp, etc.)....

And, so far, everything is running fine....... so it works for the time being. I would still like to hear something from NI and the issue though. :)

    peace,
    tribalogical
