I have a Toshiba A505-S6980. I already had this lap top long before the purchase of traktor pro. Weird thing is the DEMO version worked perfectly, I activate traktor pro after paying for it, and i get a constant click, click, click, click...... before I even load a track into a deck, and then it eventually crashes. Now, for the moment I am using the internal real tek sound card. I have plans obviously of getting an audio DJ 8. Is this the same issue all other toshiba users are experiencing?

Your Realtek sound card drivers are garbage. Try installing asio4all instead.

Thank you sirs, and yes the realtek soundcard is garbage. Asio4all did not fix the problem. Antivirus turned off, power settings at high performance, wireless turned off, etc.

I see a macbook pro purchase in the near future. Every type of dj software I have used on a pc has led to a problem or another. I wore out the service technicians over at serato for problems with itch.

I just purchased a Toshiba Satellite a665 core i3 and was excited to hook up Traktor with my Audio 4 DJ. I was quickly dissapointed though by the random drop outs of audio. Luckily I found this forum thread. I was able to reduce the drop outs to a rarity by messing with my power settings in Windows 7. I created my own power profile setting the minimum processor level on both battery and plugged in to 100%, disabling USB suspend state, disabling the optical drive, setting cooling to "Maximum Performance" and turning off the Wi Fi adapter. Not sure if that will fix your problems but worth a shot! Either way, it's definitely related to the power management settings, so play around a bit and see if you can make progress.

thanks for your suggestions. Once again, I am using the built in sound card just to set cue points, loops, etc. Until my cdj-400s arrive. Hopefully using the cdjs built in sound card these issues will no longer exsist. I dont know about you, but I have had so many problems with my opital drive as well. But thats a seperate thread on a seperate forum.

I agree that Realtek sound card is a piece of crap. I was doing a live set for a very important person and I set my power settings to high (I never did this before) and the software just froze up on me twice. I did find a problem with the fact I was using a 4 usb connections so I started using 1 powered USB hub. It did reduce the clicks and drop outs and I was able to lower my latency settings. I still have to pause my virus protections, turn off wireless and other widgets that I have running. I was also told that due to the fact that I have Windows Vista 64 that it is another problem. One of the reasons Windows 7 was made to replace Vista was that Vista is a resource hog. I find it puzzling that I have a Satellite A305 which is well above specs required to run TP and you have to go through all of this madness of turning this and that off just to do a set or 2. I refuse to just dump $1500 for a laptop I will strictly use for just DJ'ing. So I think I may just use the Toshiba for Facebooking and whatever and use my desktop for DJ'ing. My desktop runs a lot smoother than my laptop

Now that would be interesting seeing you roll up into the club having to take 3 trips bringing in your desktop LOL.

LOL It would be, but at least I know that I'm using something that's a lot more stable. It will be up there with me having to drag all of that heavy ass sound equipment

I have Qosmio G20, which I have resurrected to be my backup laptop for traktor. This is the only thing on the laptop and I'll keep it around just in case supm happens to #1 laptop.

    Toshiba i3 machines

    Hi

I see a lot of the thread dedicated to Toshiba's failure links to the pentium duo core type machines.

Does anybody know if the new Toshiba i3 range with windows 7 is experiencing the same problem?

i asked in the store about dpc latency and they looked at me like i was mad. i couldnt really explain it as i dont really know what it all means.

any help appreciated - im stuck between the toshiba and a dell but i like the toshiba better and it comes with 2yrs warranty... but its pointless if it wont run scracth pro properly!

Well the easiest if you can get your hands on a machine in the store is to bring dpclat.exe on a usb key and launch it on the models you plan to buy.

If you see Red spikes well, I'd suggest you look for another model of laptop :)

make sure you disable the wifi on the laptops you test as well, leaving it on is almost guaranteed to cause spikes.

I have a Toshiba laptop that I bought in December 2009 just for DJing. The reason I went with Toshiba was because of the 18.4" screen and it was only $749, I also heard that Toshiba laptops generally have pretty good ratings and at that price and 6gb of RAM installed, how could I go wrong? I had no idea of this issue which I did experience. After trying a few different options that I thought worked and then having the audio dropout problem still occur, I downloaded dpclat.exe and was able to figure out what was causing the dropouts. I had to disable the LAN and network and ever since then it has worked flawlessly.
