I am sick of reading little snippets like this from Keir and NI:

"For Massive, FM8 and Absynth 5 optional batch conversion of user sounds is done at first startup. In addition there's a batch conversion function - so the process is easy. This means we won't be supporting .ksd natively any longer. It could be confusing for users if some sounds appeared in Maschine, but others didn't."

They already know what's going to happen. And they are releasing it bit by bit, as they usually do, so no one gets too upset at hearing ALL of the BAD news AT ONCE. Leak a little here, leak a little there, just enought to shut us up, or keep us cool for a little longer while they rack up sales of Komplete 8 to unsuspecting fools.

Please reread that quote again. What does it mean? Can you figure it out? Do you get it? That's what NI is really asking you... Well?

I am sick of this sh!t!

I said it before in another thread, they already know everything that is to be known about Komplete 8. If being shipped in time for September 1, then it's been through every phase except maybe manufacturing and retail delivery.

But you've glommed onto something. When I reread that quote, it occurred to me that maybe even Maschine may be on the outs.

"It could be confusing for users if some sounds appeared in Maschine, but others did not."

Wow, amazing. I wonder if Kore is not the only thing too hard to maintain.

I can't see where you would go from here. Komplete Ultimate seems to be the end of the line; what would be next? They are a confusing company and a little scatterbrained with the way they think. But us consumers are the last to be informed on changes and the first to be burned.

I bet they come out with 20 new products this year that are not included in K8U.

I sympathize and understand where you are coming from.

Of course they will come out with lots of new products which won't be included in K8U. You think they should just stop development? You think every new future product should be free to a K8U owner?

But be realistic. Any company needs continuing new product to survive. You just can't continue to improve what you have. Look at the improvements with Kontakt. In another thread someone complains because nothing "really new and exciting" in Kontakt and then goes on to blaming NI for Komplete Ultimate being lame, price gouging etc.

So where do you go with Kontakt, a pretty well fully developed product? You add smaller features and then develop new products right?

I have no problem with new products. I can just see everyone complaining when they do.

Nobody complained about any new products, only when good ones are killed off with sudden prejudice.

I really see why people are getting pissed off. For example, I (and many others) got this under a year ago and already its getting phased out. At least they could make it compatible with the new format. I feel like they are forcing people to do what they are wanting.

    anyway;

Upgrade from KOMPLETE 2-8: EURO 499,00
    Arturia V-Collection: EURO 499.00

For someone who loves synths, I think I know what my money is on next.

There are two distinct groups of complainants; those like yourself who bought recently and those who have been using Kore for years and have spent countless hours building systems and setups that, while not yet dead, are now terminally ill.

Do bear in mind that there doesn't seem to be much development on the Arturia synth line either. I think their main creative developer of the modelled synths is the guy that set up XILs-lab so is no longer with them so although they are not "phased out" there has not been a lot of work on them and Arturia are terrible for fixing bugs too (I have owned several of them, most I sold apart from the Moog Modular)

Interesting you say that. I've been eyeing their Analog Laboratory bundle with the 49" keyboard controller. It's the controller I'm interested in. I hear it has a good feel and it has wheels instead of a joystick. I prefer wheels because "mod" will stay wherever it is when you let go of it. With joysticks, mod and pitch bounce back to "zero".

That seems to be the direction they are focussing development on at the moment - harvesting elements and sounds from the analog emulations to use in the Analog Lab series (and Origin and Spark). But I have been waiting for further development on the Moog Modular and others for a long time as well as new additions but wonder if those new developments are coming more from XILs-Lab now.

XILs-Lab seem to be ever evolving.

They seem to have picked up where Arturia left off with even more detailed emulations of some classic and often rare synths. The main dev worked for Arturia on their emulations and you can see some elements of a common design in both but the XILs ones go a lot further in terms of accuracy and sound (as they are made for a more modern generation of synths)

(but that's probably as much mention we should give them to be fair to NI's forum)
