How did you manage to end up with Traktor Scratch Pro, timecode vinyls & no Audio 8 DJ?

The timecode won't work with the Maya or any other soundcard. You need the Audio 8 DJ or a certified mixer!

That's not entirely true. You can use the Maya44usb. Just make sure to map all the inputs and outputs correctly, enable scratch mode on the decks, mute the output on the maya control panel, and adjust the input levels to about 1/3 to make sure you don't get calibration failed message. That should do it.

Macaque909 is correct. You cannot own Traktor Scratch Pro without already owning the Audio8/4 or a Certified Mixer.

That is not the OFFICIAL way of doing it and as such cannot really be supported. Did the OP read the DIY on djtechtools or something?

Wondering how he got TSP without buying a matching soundcard for it...?

Wondering how this worked out for you. I own Traktor Scratch Pro with Audio 8. I also own Traktor Scratch 1 + Traktor 3.3. So I did have two Audio 8 cards, but I've since sold one to a friend who bought just the TSP software.

I bought a "netbook" (more of a tiny notebook than a true netbook) that is beefy enough to run T3.3 + TS1 and I want to get a cheap-o soundcard to go with it. I'm wondering if the Maya 44 can read the timecoded vinyl or if I should just get an Audio 4.

Will TS1 work with the Audio 4?

Traktor Scratch (not Pro) will not read timecode through the Audio4.

Ah. My real aim is to run Traktor on the little guy and broadcast the tempo. The other machine would run Ableton Live for doing hybrid sets. I'll probably just use my "second location" thing for TSP on the little laptop and run the Audio 8 there. I'll have to see how well it runs. I can just use my internal soundcard and Yamaha UX16 on the laptop running Live.
