TraCoMerger – Combine Traktor collections, Transfer metadata between TDJ and Traktor Pro

Hey Kalo,

I love TraCoMerger I only just started using it since getting an iPad recently, and it has worked like a dream! However, Traktor DJ has recently updated its cloud backend: removing Dropbox support, and replacing it with iCloud Drive.

I have found the collection.nml.gz file, but when I replace it with the new collection file that TraCoMerger makes, the change doesn't work! I know this is a recent change, and that you may not yet have had a chance to look at updating TraCoMerger, or figuring out a new workflow. Is this something you are looking at?

Hi, thanks for the post .. yes the TDJ iCloud changed a lot. Great to hear that you tried to find solution yourself. Does not work, because meanwhile TDJ checks timestamp on each song, restoring is not longer enough.

But don't worry, i just built on a new version, works already internally on my PC with iCloud .. i did not publish yet, because some cleanup and updating docu necessary. So keep an eye here .. i will update in next steps, will need some weeks maybe, because just quite busy ... In case you need a merged file urgently, then send me your not working collection_merged.nml.gz in private post .. i can patch the file so it will work in your iCloud.

Thx ! .. TraCoMerger ready in beta already, currently struggle only in forcing TDJ to import patched collection from iCloud, some strange behavior in TDJ and iCloud, , but quite sure i will find a workaround. Will see, cross our finger

i found a solution today how to force TDJ always to Import the patched collection, analyzed this 'strange behavior' already, updated beta works well now with iCloud .. so give me some time to cleanup and update documentation .. then i will publish

I updated my TraCoMerger. You will find the new 1.5 version in first post of this thread.

New in Version 1.5 (August 11, 2017)

• Most important: Supporting TDJ 1.6.8. (iCloud version), older TraCoMerger does not work with iCloud, new 1.5 does
• You can user TraCoMerger now for restoring older backups into TDJ (also for new TDJ iCloud version)
• Some smaller enhancements more (details of all enhancements: see Help file)
• New Help File (Manual): Please check the Help file !!, new chapters and all news regarding iCloud included
• Bugfixing

However, the instructions for getting the collection from and to iCloud Drive don't work; The Traktor DJ folder in iCloud Drive is hidden/inaccessible except on the iPad. The folder is not accessible via icloud.com.

Additionally, moving a merged collection.nml.gz file to the Traktor DJ folder in iCloud Drive is not allowed in the iCloud Drive iOS app.

 

no, it is not hidden, you can easily access to your TDJ folder on icloud (with any internet browser, no ipad or iOS needed, i always access via PC - as described in instruction), you can download and upload any files , works great... you may struggle with an different issue:

do NOT use your safari browser on iPad! or any mobile device, use Windows PC browser ! then type www.iCloud.com and login. In case you want to see same on mobile devices or iPad you can simulate in Safari a 'non iPad' :.. . tap and hold the Refresh icon (semi-circular arrow) in the URL bar until "Request Desktop Site" appears and then tap' . Now you must see the app icon iCloud Drive .. with Traktor DJ inside, same view as on any PC browser ...

Hey all! Super huge fan of this application. I got it just a few days before the Dropbox aspect was no longer a thing. I’ve ran through this thread as well as many others and one thing I’m a little bit lost on is the status of the iPhone version. From what I gather none of this stuff willl work until the iPhone version gets updated to work with iCloud ? I hope I’m wrong but I figured I’d post here before letting it sync in how much time I wasted prepping tracks on the iPhone which is a terrrific way to spend the morning commute. Thanks again for the application the one time I had it work it was a major game changer for me !

It is a pity, unfortunately you are right .. as long NI does not publish an updated TDJ for iPhone I have no good idea for the iPhone user. I am wondering myself why the new TDJ iCloud version is for iPad available only. I hope the iPhone version will come soon.

What I never tested, maybe you can search for your actual (or older) collection.nml.gz on Dropbox (via Dropbox app or via PC/Mac browser), copy manually from there to PC/Mac .. and use TraCoMerger to transfer once to the new TDJ iPad version (or to Traktor Pro on Mac/PC), this would alt least avoid that all work in past on iPhone got. But it does not solve the need to use iPhone TDJ in parallel, I know.

in case you use and like my TraCoMerger or TraCoConverter, maybe give me a like in first post of the 2 threads (below the download links)?

Simple reason: this gives me a better understanding which program is used more often or if you use them in combination mostly. The counter of downloads/views does not show me this, as it always starts with zero with each update. If most user like both apps I will maybe merge both apps into one in future (not now, more on long term), will see.

And beside counting downloads ... I am happy about each like of you !..
