Hi, I'm looking at selling my dj equipmet, I have ATM and buying an all-in-one unit, which would you recommend and why.

I'm currently using an audio 6 with scratch pro 2, pioneer djm 250, kontrol x1, touch osc, iPad 2, and 1 technics 1210.

I play out 2/3 times per week so transporting has to be a priority. 1 place I play I have to take my own equipment, others I use an x1 etc.

I don't ever use timecode unless I'm just messing about at home, so that's not definitely needed.

I don't really use 4 decks unless I'm using internally mixing (touch osc+x1) however this is very rare, but I would like the option of a proper 4 deck output externally,

    I'm either thinking of
    Xone 4d,
    Kontrol s4

I also read about buying a xone 92 and 2 xone 1ds, however this would be less easy to transport.

    Any others recommended?

    Thanks in advance.

well, the xone4d is 3 times the price and looks like you get three times the size and weight too... so you need to figure if you need everything it has to offer..

for sure the S4 is easy to carry, does what it does, and is a decent price but only you can decide what you need... and your bang/buck decisions :)

S4 everyday of the week... you don't really need anything else these days.... says the guy with a room full of equipment... ha ha

Get an S2, even more compact than the S4 for a fraction of the price. And there are mappings around that you can use four decks if you needed it. But yeah S2 or S4 is definitely a good investment, all you'll need is one bag that carries your S2/S4 and laptop.

    Thanks for your input.

Can the s2 s4 be used as a stand alone mixer? And what is the sound quality like?

Would it be beneficial to get the s4 over the s2

the s4 is a better choice, the s2 is a budget choice.. you get direct access to 4 hot cues and 4 sample decks per side, or to 8 hotcues per side.. so for me that alone makes the difference...(well, and that i already ahd the S4 anyway :) )

the sound quality is really good.. i use the balanced outputs and they are clear and strong.. but neither the s2 or s4 can be used as a standalone mixer... they are pure controllers..
