I totally forgot about the send/returns, it all makes sense now  :D

Maybe I missed something. TA10 looks nice. Thru mode can save your night. But I still have an external mixer with "only" 4 channels.

If you can configure the routing in TSP2 in all flexibility (multiple decks/samplers to one channel), the audio8 seems to be more than sufficient to allow for 4 decks and sample players. I still hope the audio8 driver will be updated to cope with the crackles, knowing the TA10 is its successor. I use asio4all with no problem at all. But interfacing with Maschine is not possible.

    Any expectations here?

What are you asking actually - we have lots of expectations :D

Following ekwipt's idea, your Evo4 has FX Send/Return Bus, which can be used as extra channel for the loop recorder. I mean - you could eventually benefit from the TA10's extra out ...

Internal routing for Maschine is expected in 2011 according to the Maschine On The Record thread. Still, there's nothing particular mentioned in marketing materials nor does any of the Beta testers say something about it. I guess it'll come sooner or later :)

Yeah, we live with our expectations ;)

What I learned that TSP2 has all flexibility with routing, but at DJTT it was mentioned that it's only available with TA6 or TA10. That makes me doubt: this will not work with audio8?

And of course send/return on EVO4 will give me new options with TA10. Don't know if that's worth the price for me.

the "channel merge" feature is part of the software and does not depend on the particular audio interface.

actually, the main purpose of the merge feature, as I see it, is to enable A8 owners to utilize the loop recorder. It makes a lot of sense to have C & D outputing to only one stereo channel.

Indeed. That's what I figured. Even more: you could merge several sample players and have a spare channel for Maschine. In my current setup I use channel D for Maschine. The new routing options give quite some flexibility here.

My only issue is the cost for upgrading from existing TSP customers. I mean, the amount of updates aren't huge, and yet it costs €69? Think about all the updates that Ableton have brought in over the years for their software with no additional cost to the license holder.

    Adam,

I can't agree - the loop recorder and the sample decks are the most significant features. These on their have huge creative potential in practice. I would agree that the rest are supplementary, but the two core features are really great and are well worth the extra 69.

These 69 are also your ticket for all future 2.X enhancements.

Come on 69 is just about the cost of a night out, be it a dinner, a bar and cab ... at most, it will be a night out for you and a partner (may not be enough even) ...

I have yet another question about soundcards!

With my audio 8 atm I sometimes use deck D as an audio thru so my mate can plug in and route his output through my system.

Since I intend to use the sample decks in decks C&D I'm a little worried that I'll no longer be able to do this, and I don't think I want the TA-10 since you HAVE to use it on external power. Obviously I'll have more than enough physical ins and outs, but how will I route it in Traktor?

    Thanks for your help.

I normally mix internally, is there anything I can do about this?

    External or internal mixing?

EDIT: /me is stupid. tl; dr LOL:D

your in pairs are free basically. Your mate's In stream will go to one of the ins, and you can route it to Traktor's brand new AUX channel. You don't loose a deck when using it.

the AUX doesn't provide EQ/Filter/CUE, but it shouldn't be a problem for you.

    yes sir!

it comes with S4 (and I assume it stays in TP2 ...). According to the manual, the primary purpose in the S4 design is to be used for the MIC input so you don't use (loose) a deck in "live input mode" for speaking out :).

It appears as assignable IN channel on the INPUT routing page in the Configuration. Meaning that one of your A8 inputs need to be assigned to it, instead of channel A/B/C/D

The AUX channel is also selectable as a source for the loop recorder!

Nice one. No TA-10 for me I think, A8 should do it just fine!

a couple of weeks ago, me being an impatient curious guy, i did a small test to see how usable my A4DJ would be with the new traktor..

I took it to a friend's place, he has an S4. Did the little trick to enable external mixing (from the traktorBible site), and checked the routing options. here:

    1) I could route multiple output pair channels to one A4DJ output, ie channel A and sample deck C, for intance
    2) he had windows, with asio4all, i could aggregate the A4DJ with the internal soundcard, do a 6in6out device, and route both sample decks C and D on the aggregate device output!
    3) I could simply route decks A and C to Out 1&2, and B and D to Out 2&4, and used 2 LPD8s with an X1 to control everything on an external mixer. Volumes for the samples (+filters) were handled by the AKAIs.

Soo.. I hope nothing has changed regarding these options on TSP2. Might save you guys from upgrading your old soundcards and/or mixers! I too wanna use A4DJ and the Nuo3.0 given that I have many controllers..

Many props to the team for the update, looks very slick. Can't wait

i hope ur right! i really cant afford to get a new interface, and really want to be able to route two channels to one of the audio 4s output, channels a+c on channel output 1&2, and b +d on channel 3&4.... but the article on djtechtools states this routing can only happen on the auido6 or 10

don't worry dude! if you just think about the fact that Ean does the Demo with the Audio2DJ and is still able to merge the channels, you will be more relaxed.

what you say, simply doesn't make any sense. The whole purpose of the feature is to allow the owners of A8/4 to benefit from the new 5 decks mode (4+loop rec.).
