let me summarize 27 pages in 2 points

1) with audio 8dj/4dj and software upgrade you can play TSP 2 software with 2 cores features (loop, recording, etc) and internal mixer activated.
in this case you cant' play old timecodes in external mode but only in internal mode

2) only with the Hardware Upgrade (audio 10dj and audio 6dj) you can play with TSP2 in internal mode and with new Timecodes (vinils/CD) also in external mode.


p.s.1 i like play in internal mode using my controller (xone 1D) like a mixer. So i have to do only the Software Update.:lol:

the A8 will work great in external mode with all the new features. The channel output merging feature will do a fine job in compensating for the lack of 5th stereo output.

 

......now i have only a curiosity......the better sound quality of TSP2 (they say) stay in the new (drivers&software) or in the new Hardware ? i hope the first......

 

thanks for your response but im still not 100% clear here.. you say its possible to merge channels but you also say that it will be dirty as there are not enough outputs.. I simply want to kick off drop samples for mixtapes on top of the 2 channels going to audio 4 in external mode.. is this still possible? thanks!

 

yes, you can do that.

I say dirty as there's more going on in T(S)P2 - it has a dedicated (5th) output for the loop recorder. There's no clean way to have all the 5 outs routed properly on A4, unless you sacrifice something (perhaps the loop recorder?). It is also known that the merging is limited - not sure the exact limits but something like max 2 channels to 1 out.

anyway, I believe you should be able to merge one track deck with one sample deck to one out on the A4. Not sure if it will allow you to merge the second pair of decks though.

menekken just confused me.
My current setup is two turntables with timecode vinyls, an Audio8DJ and - of course - TSP (and a 1D which is not relevant here...)
I don't really need additional channels as I'm only using two of my four stereo outs. Until menekkens post I thought I would be fine just getting the software upgrade, but now he confused me.
Is there any need for buying a Audio 10?

 

no need of A10. You'll be just fine with the software upgrade.

if someone want or need All the TSP2 functionalities (i repeat ALL, for 4 decks timecodes, loop recording, send/return, trought) you need audio 10dj


if someone like me, use 2 decks with TSP and audio 10dj, a software upgrade from TSP to TSP2 is sufficient. in this way you can merge for example channels C and D for loop recording, effects etc....if you need it. Otherwise you will play 2 decks (timecodes) with the new software interface and i think is a good choice.

the statement is in response to mpb's question and is correct in that regard. In general, there's a good reason for NI to release the TA10, it's just not needed for the 2 decks setup mpb describes.

i'll probably wait a few weeks before getting this. have a bunch of gigs coming up so i want to make sure there aren't any major bugs.

 

T2 installs totally separately from pro so there's no reason not to get it and start playing with it in your spare time. Except for maybe conserving precious NI bandwidth on April 1st.

I've decided to hold off on my purchase of TSP2 software upgrade...either in consideration of purchasing the S4 instead, or in the unlikely event that I may win a free upgrade in contest.

So...has there been any official mention if the demo will be complete for the 30 day period, or will it be a time constrained demo lasting only for short periods before automatic shutdown?

 

so just to get this straight, i can open and use my old version of traktor even once i install the new version?
