Hi, I did my first gig after upgrading to 2.6.2 the other night, and halfway though my set I tried to play a track and ran into a nasty problem. This is a track which I have been playing out at gigs probably at least once a week for a year and it always worked fine with my previous version of traktor. When I loaded it into a deck in 2.6.2, no waveform appeared and there was silence in that channel of the mixer. The odd thing was that both the in & out the indicator lights on my Audio4DJ were lighting up as though they were receiving signals, however no sound was coming from that channel on the mixer. I had already played for about 2 hours without issue prior to this, so I'd established that the mixer worked fine.

Then the really troubling thing was that after this happened, when I loaded any other track into that traktor deck, I got silence from that channel. Even though the waveform looked fine and the indicator lights on the Audio4 looked good.

This really messed things up for me, and I ended up having to plug in an ipod that was luckily nearby, play a long track from there and then restart traktor. Obviously a situation most DJs would prefer to avoid.

I've just tested this issue in my home studio and I've replicated the problem. When I load in the corrupt track in question at home, sometimes i get a weird totally wrong looking waveform and loud clicking noise and then it generally goes silent and that channel will no longer work regardless of the track. Sometimes its starts working again after a while and sometimes I have to restart Traktor.

It seems like its perhaps some sort of protection mode that kicks in if a corrupt file is detected, but its causing major problems for me... If that is the case perhaps theres a reset or something that I'm missing?

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

Also just noticed another thing. After recreating this problem, all audio from the computer is distorted, including traktor or sound from a youtube clip coming through the headphone output (with Audio4 disconnected). As soon as I quit Traktor, everything returns to normal..... Might have to go back to my previous version...

Have you sent this to NI Support yet? I assume the first thing they will tell you will be to update to 2.6.4, which is the most up-to-date version, and try again.

Also, it will help if you send support a video of this happening, as well as the audio file that is causing this.

What is the file type of your corrupt file? What OS are you using?

Here is a good (and free) program to scan for corrupt audio files: AudioTester http://www.vuplayer.com/other.php

is you file in mono, because this is an old problem in 2.6.2, if so just convert it to stereo. I cannot recommend updating to 2.6.3 or 2.6.4 because they have a very critical bug

Yeah, i've been reluctant to upgrade further because I've read about other bugs. Might have to downgrade. Also, I'm wondering whether it might be a problem with my Audio4, seeing its indicating that the signal is getting there but not making it any further....

... just checked, yeah it does seem to be mono, never noticed before! Other than importing it into a DAW and exporting as stereo, is there a quick way to convert to stereo?

Also, is there an easy way to scan your music library to check for mono files?

    Thanks!

yes you can enable the bitrate in traktor, wav files in mono will be at 705 instead of 1410 and for mp3's you can use mp3 tag and there is a comumn there that will tell you if the files are in mono or stereo, so far the best version of traltpr besides 2.0.3 for me is 2.6.2 despite the mono bug. I don't recomend using version 2.6.3 or 2.6.4 since it has one very critcal bug where traktor will hang at randon times when you load a song into a deck.
