Traktor 2.8.0 + S4 MK2 Preview Player bug

After upgrading to Traktor Scratch Pro 2.8.0 last week, my preview player has been acting up. It will function fine for some time (20-30 minutes), but eventually, the Preview Player will fail to load the track when preview is initiated via my Kontrol S4 Mk2. The blue PREVIEW indicator on the controller is active, but the Preview Player does nothing.

As a workaround, I can drag and drop tracks into the Preview Player on my Mac, and that has gotten me through my last couple of gigs. But I'd like to know if others are seeing this issue, and / or if NI is aware of it and working towards a fix.

 

Have been having this problem since version 2.7.3 (january), but actually for me preview player never works! (control x1 mk2)
I did a ticket in march.

this is a bug:

this does not only affect S4, but any MIDI assignments or keyboard commands for
loading into preview player.

The bug is supposed to be fixed in 2.7.4 public beta version.

but no changes in versions 2.8 and 2.8.1 I think that is not really important for them!

Controller: A&H K2 and Keyboard

On my Laptop 10.9.5 (Mavericks) after upgrading to 2.7.x the same, now after Update to 2.8.1 it's working fine.
iMac 10.10.2 (Yosemite) fresh install of 2.8.1 loading track in preview player did not work, either if i use my K2 or Keyboard ...

i also opened a support ticket --> [Ticket#2015022310010262]

NI, wouldn't you consider this a showstopper? It's happening on different operating systems and with different controllers. Hello?

Quick update : NI customer service just got back to me. They are aware of this problem and are currently working on it to fix it.
I guess we just have to be patient

 

I'm also having this problem on 2.8.1 with an S4 MK1 and Windows 7. This is annoying enough to make me whip out Macrium Reflect and bounce back to 2.6.8. At this rate I'm going to be using 2.6.8 forever. :-/ Not cool.

 

Hi! Try to re-install your software Traktor 2.8.1, before that disconnect hardware Traktor S4. Enjoy!

 

Did this fix the problem for you? Reinstalling is time consuming since you have to reimport your collection.

 

First, I installed the system using a Service Center, reimport it took about half an hour (500GB on hard drive).
As I understand it , when you reinstall Traktor 2.8.1 imports not the files mp3 from your collection, and their description of the system , it happens fast. After that my Preview Player stopped working.

Then I reinstalled Traktor 2.8.1 with disconnected S4 (without reimport my collection), but now i used zip-file from https://www.native-instruments.com/en/support/downloads/updates/ (not Service Center).
Now the player is OK.

 

Got it. I had previously upgraded from 2.6.8 to 2.8.1 via the Service Center.
This time I disconnected my S4 and F1 (just in case), downloaded the zip file of 2.8.1 directly from the link in your post, extracted it and installed it over the top of my existing 2.8.1. I then did a mix for about 45 minutes and so far the preview player still works! Maybe this is a problem with the upgrade procedure via the Service Center and not the actual program itself. I'll reply again after I've had more time to test this.
EDIT: This did NOT fix this issue in the end.

To chime in on this, I think the issue is intermittent. I've seen it popup a few times over the past six-ish months (now running OS X 10.10 with Traktor 2.8.1.1104 with iTunes 12.2.1.16). This weekend it would "load" the track but never display the stripe or route audio. Then after a few reboots, it started working. It feels like a subtle sequence or event triggers it. For a solid month I thought it was an iTunes/external drive issue but it's definitely not limited to that config.

Which is why I'd suggest not uninstalling/reinstalling stuff as I think that might only be voodoo at this point.

I'd certainly appreciate dialogue from NI about a fix and in what build.

Even after a full remove and a clean installation, the preview player bug is still there with OS X 10.9.5 and Traktor 2.8.1

 

Unfortunately, the preview bug is still there in 2.8.1 after a clean install on Windows 7.
The release notes for 2.9.0 say they fixed the bug. I'm away for a couple of weeks so won't be able to test it but has anyone experienced the bug in 2.9.0?
