THANKS Dmitry! That sounds like it would be the cause of the problem...I'm guessing Traktor writes something to each ID tag or file to speed up loading/scanning and "read only" would prevent this. I'm going to give this a try and I'll let everyone know how it goes. I'm hoping there's a way to do in a batch rather than clicking on each file, selecting "Properties" and unchecking the "Read only" box.....I have my doubts! UPDATE: it seems that one can uncheck "Read only" in Explorer by selecting multiple files and right-clicking Properties :)

Has this been fixed now? I was having this problem, but re-analysed (in explorer), but only after re-starting Traktor could I sort by BPM correctly.

Update: after a fair bit of playing around here's what I've found....maybe not surprising to most:
    1. Removing the "read-only" attribute in Windows Explorer and adding a song to a Traktor playlist is the only way I can sort all songs by bpm, key, etc.
    2. Just browsing folders in the "explorer" window of Traktor doesn't sort many files, and can take ages when Traktor "scans" the folder. Scaning the folder also uses up my computer's resources (HDD mainly).

So, I basically have a put every song into some kind of playlist. It's annoying because I have folders of genres and I'm happy to have House, Funk, Disco, Jazz, Nu Jazz, Rock, etc, but how many playlists do I keep on creating? e.g. I didn't create a separate playlist for "Foreign" music because that folder only has 100 songs, as with some others. But sorting within even those small folders doesn't work unless they are "playlists".
In the old Traktor (from 2008?) I didn't need playlists; everything would still sort through explorer. But now I have to choose a playlist for every song I have which is hard because so much music is hard to decide what genre it should be called. I would have thought the "Collection" would be like a master playlist but this doesn't seem to be the case.

On a separate note, I have had Traktor freeze on me twice while gigging within the past 6 months. All the graphics freeze but thankfully the current song plays untill the end. Then I have to play something (from VLC usually) until I can restart Traktor.

hello friends, i had this bpm sorting issue also. but i found something that seems to have worked (im not sure if it has been stated clearly). i use the explorer tab to search and load my music, but in large folders when i use to click the bpm tab some would sort and others wouldnt. what i found is that if you go into preferences and then into browser details, select the "show status bar/error messages". that way when you click on a large folder with a lot of music, you will see the files being scanned at the bottom of the screen and see the status. you have to wait till all files are scanned (which sucks and takes a while depending on size), then you can click on the bpm tab and all files will be in order per bpm. hope this helps someone. peace

sorry but forgot to mention that i first had to remove the "read-only" attributes in the file properties and then had to re-analyze them in traktor. peace

    Hey guys!
By the way I also figured out, that Traktors sorting algorithm is a bit screwed up if you try do sort dates in folders.
If the digit of the day is smaller than 10 it won't sort properly. Writing a zero in front of the single digit day number, however, makes the algorithm sort the song correctly. This means, you have to change 2007/11/3 to 2007/11/03. It's a lot of work (and ridiculous), but the only way I found.

    Hope this helps.
