Hello all, first post so ill start by saying hi :)
Im considering buying traktor pro 2, I currently use Torq. One thing i like about torq is the ''Tempo Anchor'' feature. Ive heard there is a similar feature in traktor, but in traktor it is abit different and not as good as torq? Has it improved in TP2? Can you align the grid over the beats of a song so it can be syncd? Many thanks, scott.

lmfao, please explain "not as good as Torq" :D

if you mean elastique or flexible grid, then no Traktor don't have it. use multiple grids or warp your unsteady bpm tracks in Ableton... it's not going to sound worst than in Torq.

Multiple grids? If i set the beatgrid on the first downbeat, then if it starts to drift can i adjust the beatgrid so it lines up with the beats throughout the entire song? I cant use ableton to warp m track because I dont own it

Assuming the track itself is tight but the software haven't detect the "right" BPM, then yes you can adjust the grid. If your track have some BPM drops here and there, you may need to use another Beatgrid(s).

well i came from torq, but didn't use the tempo anchors (at first they had bugs in them so i stayed away).

beat gridding in traktor is flexible, but very confusing for me. from what i can tell, for a track that really flops around a lot, you'll have to loop a few areas with a few grids. i just have difficulty setting it all up though.

    +1

setting multiple grids wont really help since the only thing that happens is: the phase gets restarted. traktor does not support different tempi in one track.

No, you can't do that with Traktor, it's something that it's been requested for years now cause the other dj softwares already have it and it has become a must for DJ apps but NI keeps ignoring this feature.

This is an important thread. I just recently moved from Torq and just about bought TSP2 last week. I used to heavily depend on the beatgrid in Torq simply because it had sticker drift issues where the track automatically speed up or slows down if I touch the platter. But TSP2 has got real vinyl feel (atleast for a DnB and Dubstep DJ ;) ) so I kinda didn't need the grid so far, although it will serve as a good addition.

    cheers

It's not as important as the many older and longer threads on this issue ;)

haha I see the community has been suffering from this for quite sometime. You guys think NI are working on making an elastic griding system?

    Cheers

Yes, if you check the 'Traktor on the Record' sub-forum above, you'll see the sum-total of everything the developers have said publicly about the software.
