    Hi everyone,

With a lot of hopes, I've bought the Traktor 2 upgrade, and saw, like many others, that the CPU usage meter behavior is different from the previous version – The meter spikes higher than before and gets into the red zone much faster.

After some digging, I understood that the new meter is much more accurate and measures the audio related CPU usage, not the main computer CPU. True - Having a look at the task manager performance tab showed that while Traktor 2 meter jumped pretty high, the task manager meter didn't show anything out of the ordinary. Now, the question is – what the Traktor 2 meter is really all about? Will I have any glitches if the meter is too high? When should I worry about the audio output?

What interests me even more is what to do in order to lower these spikes into something less intimidating. The first thought was to buy a better machine, but it seems my current machine (A Lenovo T500, 3GB, WinXP SP3, audio 8 DJ) isn't that troubled from what Traktor is trying to do, it has something to do with the audio related usage, so buying a stronger machine isn't really the right answer, is it?

    Any help will be appreciated

I assume u have tweaked your laptop done to bare nothing disabled all the unessery services etc. Run DPC whhich checks for latancy spikes and when u run it. Have your service open i jus disable according to what use the most CPU usge. I

Helpful that helps about if u havent tweak your XP as yet do that first then run DPC latency

Have you updated to the latest version (v2.0.3)? The CPU usage has been improved in the later versions.

How many times must one tell you the meter in Traktor is NOT a CPU load meter! Its an indicator of the load on Traktors Audio engine.

Honestly, test it and you will see, but since version 2.0.2 i had no more red linning in the cpu and no glitches in the sound what so ever and same with 2.0.3

Excellent. So what impacts the Traktor audio engine load? Since the CPU is (more or less) idle, and memory isn't an issue as well, How should one configure his computer / Traktor in order to prevent this so called "Traktor audio engine" load to reach the red zone?

I think as soon as one of the smarter designers takes away the word CPU on the screen and replaces it with some word that states it is the audio-engine load!
Last time I checked 'Central processing unit' is not the same as 'audio-engine'

Can I recommend turning of multi-core processor support in settings. This immediately reduced the load I was seeing in Traktor

    cpu/load

i had the same issue, i went through 4 days of upgrades and had to upgrade to win7, and go through the whole process of shutting off and disabling stuff, and all i had to do originally was turn the multi core off

I'm having the same problem after using traktor for half a year with no problems. Upgraded to Mac OS Lion, noticed the cpu bar redlining with literally no tracks playing, upgraded to Traktor 2.1.1, same problems. Had I not bought an iMac last year I would just assume my computer was old, but I'm under the impression that Traktor doesn't cooperate with Lion. Anyone know if Traktor 2.1.2 fixes this? I deselected the multi-core support with no positive results.

Ive just bought traktor so have only used 2.1.2. It runs great on both my MacBook pro and my iMac. The load meter doesn't even go to the quarter full stage. Both are running lion.

    Hi everyone,

Do you think guys that this new timecode vinyl mk II could reduce level of load traktor audio engine.
I work on 13'' macbook pro 2.23 dual core with 8gb ram and i can hear pops and clicking when i playing even without using effects on my traktor scratch pr 2.1.2.

    cheers
