TRAKTOR 3 and M-Audio Audiophile 2496

Hello everyone! I'm planning to buy Traktor 3 these days. A friend told me, that I need two soundcards to get going. As I have the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard I'm wondering if this really is necessary as this soundcard is quite good. Can anybody help me with this issue? Thanks and cheers, Daniel

indeed, traktor doesnt like 2 soundcards and loves to have one single card, although you have the possibility to combine 2 soundcards via asio4all, but that's not the professional way of things.

the magic word is multi-channel soundcard. if you want to cue tracks in the headphones, you need at least 2 independent audio-channels.

the mentioned soundcard seems not to have this?! have a look around the forum for recommended soundcards...

The M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 has 2 stereo output channels, one is digital coaxial, so unless you have a digital input on you mixer/amp or a SPDIF converter you are out of luck with just the one card.

However I believe you can combine multiple Delta cards in one system and they share the same audio mixer and ASIO driver, (I think.. appearing to traktor to be the same card) so it is possible you could drive two 2496 cards fromTraktor without any tweaking.
