is it possible to use any midi controllers other than Audio Kontrol1 with Traktor 3 LE?

It won't let me select my x-session pro in the midi setup.
There is also no option for setting up keyboard short cuts.

Is this right or am I doing something wrong?

No its enough ;-) the most interesting is always Win or Mac? Take this in your signature, please.

Do you see your Controller anywhere in the System-Prefs? Maybe in the Hardware-Manager? Do have plugged the Controller before start up Windows? And although before starting Traktor? I f not try this and tell me what happened.

I'm not a windows-user anymore, unfortunatly I cant give you more detailed tipps.

I can see the controller everywhere - including in Traktor itself - it just won't let me chose it in the preferences Midi Setup - it's listed but clicking on it does nothing - in fact having chosen the AK1 it won't let me un-chose it now.

I'm guessing this is just a "feature" of Traktor 3 LE - I knew it only had 2 decks and some of the other restrictions but didn't know it wouldn't allow midi and keyboard hotkeys.

Do you clicked on the controllers name entry in the list or in the checkbox on the left? On Mac I need a double-click in the checkbox.

And you still cant save Keyboard-Hotkeys? Do have pressed the "Learn"-button?

thanks for your help clavis but I've given in now and upgraded to the full version of Traktor 3 - the irritating splash screen urging me to upgrade was getting really irritating anyway.
Now I've upgraded it all works fine.

I'm just a bit hacked off that LE is quite as LE as it is - this is turning into an expensive week :(

good hint, as far as i remember, traktor LE is bound to a specific controller.

...could you elaborate on this a little further?

this may explain some of the problems i've been having with LE...

    thanks!

as far as I can make out if you get Traktor LE bundled with a controller it will only work with that controller and no other - that was certainly true of the AK1 and the Mac Hercules and I bet it's the same with the new controllers that are coming on the market.

unfortunately since I had a deadline (i.e. a gig the next day), i had to pony up for the full version since my m-audio x-session pro and the AK1 did not play well together with LE.

After upgrading to the full version everything worked great, though...

I also purchased a Targus numeric keypad to make up for the missing buttons on the x-session pro. This also was an interesting process, but it worked just fine in the end and i have a pretty decent working system now.

I did exactly the same! NI must be doing ok out of all these extra 99 euros we keep forking out ...

It would be nice if it was made clearer that the LE only with the hardware you buy it with - for what I use it for the LE would have been fine apart from this one limitation.
I can only just get my head around using 2 decks there's no chance I'm ever going to use 4!

Behringer has announced the release of its new midi controller the BCD3000 which comes bundled with Traktor 3 LE. It's a step up from the BCD2000 which up until now could only be used with Traktor 3 by means of CycoKrauts MidiRules. Nevertheless this controller kicks ass and has proven to be reliable and very very versatile. Check out the BCD2000 + Traktor Programming thread for more info. It's a huge thread (70+ pages) but has all the information you need to get this little ripper cracking.
    Enjoy

that's great news about the behringer bcd3000, but a little too late for me now... i'm really i'm really enjoying working with my x-session pro, however.

unfortunately, (imho) it was missing some buttons, so i also purchased an inexpensive targus usb numeric keypad, mapped some of the keys to the functions i needed, and now i'm good to go (i'm also using a logitech trackball now as my pointing device).

it's great that the bcd3k is ready to go with traktor out of the box, so maybe I'll look into it if i really outgrow my current setup. i'd like to have all the controls i need on one device if i can get that at an affordable cost...
