TRAKTOR 3 LE does not see my MIDI controllers

    TRAKTOR 3 LE version 3.3.1.010

Traktor sees my Ultralite audio interface fine and plays back audio and cue fine. But in the Traktor preferences for "Supported midi interfaces" I see nothing: Both Midi In and Midi Out windows are completely empty.

In Mac OS X Audio Midi Setup, all three midi devices are present and working (tested with the utility's test set-up, as well as separately with Ableton Live).

The funny thing is that when I installed Traktor LE from CD originally (it came with my lovely new Sennheiser headphones) the MIDI devices showed up ok. I then used the NI Service Center to update the Traktor version to the latest. And now it no longer works...

I've also reset the Mac, but no improvement. And RTFM'd, of course. ;)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Edit: I just deleted everything and started again from the installation CD. Now I am on Traktor LE version 3.1.3.020. I do now successfully see the full list of MIDI devices in Traktor's midi preferences, but none of them are active, and none of them respond to double-clicking to activate. Again the Midi devices themselves work fine in other audio applications, just not in Traktor. So... still no joy.

So, I've browsed through the 9 pages on the forum here, read the manual, checked the product pages, comparison chart between Traktor and Traktor LE, and I still can't find any useful information on whether Midi control is at all possible with Traktor LE + my MIDI controllers.

    >50 views and no responses, come on, help me out here, show me how great Traktor LE is so that I'll want to upgrade to Traktor :D

    Hi erste,

don't have Traktor LE, but I guess that you "only" can use one midi-controller as it is the "Limited Edition" meaning "limited features".

With Traktor 3.3 you can definitely use more than one midi-controller simultaneously.

    Cheers for the reply.

To clarify, I just want to use 1 midi controller - the UC33e. It just happens that all 3 are currently plugged into my MBP.

Are you suggesting I should unplug the other two controllers, so that Traktor LE only sees one interface?

Well anyway, I just tried it: disconnected all the midi controllers, bar one, and it made zero difference. The controller is listed now in Traktor LE (the old version as described above), but whichever controller I have installed, there is nothing in the active column in preferences. And double-clicking to activate (as per manual) has zero effect.

Is it possible that Traktor LE will only work with a small list of specific Midi controllers?

If so, where can I find that list?

LE will work with the controllers bundled to it. Guess that you will find them if you search an online-store of a Midi-controller-retailer by "Traktor LE".

    LE-manual:
14.9 I get no response from my MIDI-controller
rules out some possible reasons and finally states that the manufacturers of the controllers are responsible for the support if the controller does not work with LE (after routing out the before mentioned issues).

As stated in my original post, I got LE bundled with my Sennheiser headphones - not with a midi controller. According to the support sticky in this forum, my only real support option is to ask in this forum. :(

My question really is: will LE only work with the controllers bundled with it? Or will it work with a selection of other controllers too? This is not clear from the NI pages or the manual.

Also, I searched the NI forums for "UC-33" and found some people did use it as a controller with Traktor, but no reference (positive or negative) to Traktor LE.

Just to finely tune my request: what I'm looking for is a clear statement whether Traktor LE can support any MIDI controllers that are not bundled with the LE CD.

    A competitor example:
    http://www.deckadance.com/documents/features.html

    club house LE
    X X - Generic MIDI control support.
X X - MIDI Learn with easy to configure function.

    And for Traktor LE?

Did you contact the manufacturer? As read in the LE-manual they are responsible for Midi-controller-support

    yes!

this is one of the biggest limitations of traktor LE.

I was referring to the manufacturer of your controller, ALTHOUGH I understood that you got LE bundled with another product.

As I guessed before, you probably won't be able to use the version you got for free with your headphones with the features of the full version.

    Cheers for the replies.

native_girl finally confirmed my suspicions - would've saved a lot of time if this information was written in the manual or in the preferences tab.

Ah well, pity. Still, I'm off to download the full Traktor demo now and see if that works any better. Hopefully the documentation is more comprehensive ;) ...

yes - you can T3 use with any midi-controller.

for the most common, there are tks files out there to start with, but you can also do your very own assignments.
