    Hello Rozzville,

If you don't want to disable multiple tasks in your computer to have a real-time DJ software as Traktor to run flawless, then you should not use Vista, you should use Windows XP, Windows 7, or Mac OS but avoid Vista.

Vista has a decent Windows kernel but tons of background tasks as
    - hassling the user with warning messages,
    - wasting CPU in sometimes non optimized tasks (wifi scanning or sometimes even just displaying the battery level can take a lot of CPU if it is not properly set),
    - cutting the USB bus power to saves energy, and sometimes ruining the audio played on USB,
so Windows Vista requires twice the CPU speed and the RAM needed to reach the same performance as Windows XP.

Check the CPU occupation on your computer when you have no software running on your computer. If a significant part of your computer CPU is spent in background tasks, you lack CPU ressources to perform well in a real time DJ software as Traktor.
If you are asked to optimize your computer setting, it is not due to Traktor or BCD3000, it just means your operating system was not optimized before.

    Yours,

Thanks for the info. I think I am going to try a few different things such as running the software disconnected from the net and then maybe dropping some other stuff to see how it runs then but I am aware that its not a Native issue because PCDJ Red Mobile has the same issue on my laptop using Vista.

Hey I am also having the same issue with Traktor 3 LE and my BCD3000 running on my laptop where Traktor will randomly freeze and the only way to fix is to exit the program and get back into it. So just clarifying that this issue is due to a large percentage of the laptops CPU being used and can't properly run Traktor?

But also the CPU level on Traktor and in my Task Manager are both very low..

    Hello Wil,

Can you check if you have disabled the Wifi on your computer? Wifi is useful, but Wifi scanning takes so much CPU ressources it can freeze the software, so it is never a good idea to mix with Wifi switched on. A safe mix is a mix with Wifi off, and if you absolutely absolutely need a network connection, you should connect an ethernet link, but never let Wifi on.
There is an optimization guide for DJing on laptop on http://ts.hercules.com/includes/view_faq.php?id=364&d=2008-09-26&folder=eng.

Ok, once again this morning I attempted to use my BCD3000 and Traktor 3 LE on my laptop and it only played with no drop outs for about 3 minutes.

So I took some of the advice here and changed my power setting on Vista 32 bit OS, turned off the anti virus, firewall and disconnected from WI FI and I got the same results.

From what I gathered from reading a couple of the links in this thread it sounds as if you can't have anything else on your laptop or it will disrupt Traktor 3 LE and the BCD3000. Of course only with Vista. Is that the case or is this just a bunch of BS because I use my laptop to create music as well with Kristal Audio Engine which came bundled with the BCD3000, but I had it downloaded on my laptop already. I also use Reason 4 on the same laptop but I never have both programs opened together. There isn't any reason for that.

All the other software on my computer works fine. I even have a phantom power condenser mic unit and m-audio audio interface and I never never get skips or drops when recording vocals or just importing background music to record on.

I'm really about ready to get rid of this BCD3000 and get something else with a new laptop, one dedicated just to DJ'ing but its still crazy to me because my laptop meets all the system requirements and I have well over 70GB of space on my computer. I just don't get it.

What ever happend to simple plug and play? Can I talk to a rep?

I was just on the Dj Tech Tools forum and a member there told me to try adjusting the latency in Traktor for the BCD3000 and it helped a little bit. I got a long live stream of music to mix before it froze but this time when it froze I had to close the program and open it back up.

    To ROZZVILLE,

    If I may...

I am the one who initiated this thread, but as you see, I do not contribute very much anymore, for the simple reason that I no longer use a BCD3000. I changed it for a Numark Total Control. It is a little bit more expensive, but still very affordable. And guess what? It works like a charm. No special settings on my laptop. Just plug and play.

So if you want my advice: GET RID OF THE BCD3000!

I got my BCD3000 working just fine. All you have to do is get the ASIO4ALL. Use it as the soundcard in Traktor 3 LE and adjust latency. I don't have any more freezes or drops.

I also didn't have to close firewalls, change power settings, turn off my anti virus software, switch to Windows XP or none of that silly stuff lol.

    ASIO4ALL.

Now I can mix live, stream, stay logged onto the net, and turn on my web cam to do Ustream shows.

My only issue with Behringer is that they do not supply good instructions on how to set up your hardware and software for your particular needs. Its very bland. All the help that I got that actually worked came from Dj Tech Tools.
