I'm interested in Maschine, and I run 4 decks (2 cdjs and 2 stanton da scratches) on Traktor Scratch Pro, into an external 5 ch mixer... so all my ins and outs are pretty much full on my Audio8DJ. Actually I think I may have 2 ins, or one if I am recording back into Traktor... so one set of ins, is that enough?

So how would the Maschine hook up?

    Would it?

Will I need another soundcard? Can I run 2?

Sorry to be noobish, help is appreciated.

You can use a program like soundflower to pipe the audio information to maschine if for example youvwant to sample your cdjs. I don't have maschine yet so I don't know the exact workflow. The only problem with the setup is that you won't be able to have a dedicated channel to maschine on your mixer unless your willing to scrap one of your decks.

What I'm hoping for in the future is a way to plug in two soundcards without having to aggregate devices so that you can have timecode control of four decks with a audio 8 DJ and also have maschine and some of the internal fx set as externals routed to an aux in/out on a DJ mixer

Thanks, soundflower looks interesting... Especially if recording a scratch using an internal mixer...

Yeah, 2 soundcards would be the answer, maybe a different manufacturers soundcard would work so there's no driver clash? Has anyone explored that?

I guess in real terms what I'd like to do is produce tracks on the Maschine, but then play them back and mix into them in traktor. So I need to lose one of the decks anyway. I could use one of my Da Scratches to be a loop and cue trigger for my CDJs. So that's an option, but i'd like to run the sound through traktor so I can sync it, etc?

    - Maschine usb out into iMac usb in
    - iMac usb out into Audo8DJ usb
    - Audio8DJ Traktor signal into 3 channels of mixer, can I run 3 decks?
    - Can I then use the Maschine as a deck in Traktor? Or will it need to be unsync'd through the ext mixer?
    - So how do I get audio out from Maschine, either as a 4th chanel from Traktor or utilise one of the outputs from Audio8DJ in Maschine software?
    - Can I also route traktor back to Maschine to record scratches, etc? How would I do that other than Soundflower or is that the only way?

That kinda describes what I want to do...

    Feedback appreciated.

According to the specs though the Maschine doesn't have RCA out's so how can I do that?

what card of sound do you use for Maschine?if you have use a internal(pc or mac),you need a cable RCA-mini/jack connected in the exit of your PC or MAC .If it is not this situation, you need another card of sound for your maschine.:D

    cheers

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong here but...

If you connect Maschine up to your laptop via usb and have your Audio 8DJ connected as well you can use the Audio 8 as your soundcard in Maschine.

You then use the Midi out of Maschine and hook that up to your Midi In on the Audio 8 soundcard.

Because you're using 4 decks on traktor you wont be able to use an out on the soundcard unless you ditch a deck. But you could after ditching a deck run Maschine into your mixer through an out channel on the audio8.

The midi cable would then enable you to keep the two programs synced via ext midi clock.

Here's a quick tutorial vid to you show you some more about Maschine and Traktor.
