Reading this thread makes my head hurt with all the Apple Suck up that goes on. When are you "clicky" ass douche bags going to learn that if an person asks for and Android App.. and your not the developer.. your BS about how "apple is better than android.. blah blah blah" just makes us all the more right about the average apple owner and has no bearing on the comment / question at hand.. ok.. rant over...

NI / TRAKTOR!!! guys I also don't buy that Android is not capable of doing this.. The growth rate of android is well within a reasonable range to make it a worthwhile action on your part. Maybe you can do it in stages..
Stage 1) Make something that will connect and allow us to modify playlists and basic settings.
    2) Remote control some of your features so that two cheap android tablets can go along side my PC / MAC and give me kick ass flexibility.. (your competitors have this!) and
    3) Make the Traktor app that you have to Apple available in Android and Windows phone.. I don't buy that its not doable. .none of us do.. even the apple lovers know better. If there is an issue?.. Ask the community.. maybe we could crowd source the solution with you..

Yes, a Remote Control app can work fine and without any latency, I have been able to control Traktor remotely even from my Windows Phone. a dedicated app from NI would be fantastic! If it is simple enough, it could be done for every mobile platform, indeed. :D

Just wanted to add my 2 cents on this.

As both a Traktor and Android user, I would love to see your Traktor DJ app available on the Play Store as well.

I always loved it when I played on iPad along with a Kontrol Z1, really casual and easy, but I won't buy an iPad just for it.

I hope you will consider it.

    Thank you,
    Anthony.

Apparently Intel has developed 64 bit processors designed around android LOS. Apple's iPhone no longer has the 64 bit realm cornered with 2 devices.
Android will soon have a wider range of devices with wider compatibility specs. Apples strengths are quickly becoming it's weaknesses.

Let NI focus on making the app work properly on iOS first before spending time and resources on porting to a whole other platform.

Guys they were not willing to do such a stupid thing like reworking the browser or add any of dozens of requested features in past years which would make their customers more loyal and happy.... Do you really think they will spend time and money on the android version? Pls don't make me laugh... The company which the NI become is now nothing but a greedy company interested in selling you their new hardware (no matter if you do or do not think its features worth the money or not) and they will rather spend their money on paying dj "stars" to say they are usin NI hardware, instead of investing the money to some development and progress.. Another 9,99usd application will never pay itself or make any money so don't be optimistic :-(

There is one issue and one issue only that is preventing this from happening. Android manufactures take the OS and hack it up to spit out their own custom versions. This leads to a large number of different but the same OS's. Which is a colossal endeavor for a developer to test, and bug fix for. It's just too much work. That's why there are so many more apps for iOS than Android. ease of development and technical support. Pretty sure that is also why there isn't a Linux version of Traktor Pro. It would just be a huge headache for NI

    I don't quite agree.
There is no problem caused by the customizations made by each manufacturer as the base system is always the same. The issue you are reffering to, is the version inconsistency - while Apple says "now you all will upgrade to the new ios", its up to each manufacturer when and even if they will release new update following the Android upstream.
The simplest way around is to limit the application and say "ok its only for 4.2 and higher" and you are fine - there is no difference if there is touchwiz, sense or whatever. The second showstopper is the hardware itself - while you have only few models running ios, you can fine tune it. For android you have a full range of models from a cheap crappy one to some high end phones so its not possible to make running equally well on the whole spectrum. Then try to explain some savy user that the application is not crappy but his cheap phone is simply not strong enough to handle it.. ;-)
Linux is a different story - even the distributions are very similar in their basic architecture, they would need to build many different versions for a very few users (no word about getting the NI hardware and most other professional audio hw work under linux is a real pain) so its really not economic.

I agree on the hardware range, but the devs I have talked to said hacking up the os makes it buggy. Which then causes too many enviorments to try to support and test for. So it's probably a little of both OS variances and hardware spectrum. Both of which translate into not economical.

Exactly.... Its not uncommon that they screw something while creating their fancy facelifts trying to make their phones different.... ;-)
It will never pay itself unless you are selling it for a high price or you have some selling feature like dvs on it which noone else have so you reach new segment of the customers.
NI have sadly no dvs or any other killer feature... And also no interest to make it available for android...

I totally agree to GenErik and maara. In Addition I propose to stop requesting any Android support until they fixed old issues on iOS or bring some new killer features.

    Why should NI support Android?
    • Because we are requesting? - LOL.
    • Because Android could help NI to be the leader in the DJ app market ? - LOL
    • Because it would increase customer satisfaction? LOL … never ever, this would end in more requests and complains. TDJ on iOS produces enough trouble for their support from unsatisfied customer. They never could be interested to multiply these problems.
    • NI sells hardware, TDJ is a vehicle only. I assume they analyzed in detail already, whether Android would increase the growth in controller sales business significantly enough to justify all these new Android related problems. And the fact there is no Android version tells us the result of this analysis: It doen't make sense for the NI business
I understand all users, who are requesting this ... but let’s change the perspective: I assume it doesn't make sense for NI … so WE should accept and focus on existing TDJ on iOS issues. My coin only.;)

The very same could have been said before they released an iOS app.
They didn't wait until everything was fixed on Traktor Pro 2 for PC/Mac, they released the iOS app.

My feeling is more like it's too easy to illegally download Android apps and bypass the Store, so they wouldn't be rewarded for their work.

But if they are hardware sellers like you say, maybe they should not care.

Everything's here are hypothesis until we hear from NI.
And next time we hear from them might be to accounce their app ported to Android ;)

LOL at the last comments speculating why no Android version exists. I see two reasons why you start with iOS: 1.) Apple users pay more for apps; 2.) Development may be a little easier.

Algoriddim djay2 and Mixvibes Cross DJ Pro (currently on a 50% off sale) are now on Android.

NI, have you noticed that app sales on the Android platform are currently exploding? By one measure (for Germany), revenues on Google Play are now HIGHER than in Apple's App Store. Give us the Android port, pretty please!

Even if Traktor went android... do u honestly think it will be good ? They take six months to fix one problem....just take a look at Djay android and all the problems on their forums. If there was an android Traktor problem you would have to wait at least a year until they employed a new staff member to read the new forum problem list. Let's have dvs on android Traktor dj...purrlease.

Of course it will be good. All they need is a small dedicated team of developers to port it over. The app would slay in the play store.

TDJ on android would put the iOS version to shame for one main reason: file handling. On android it is a snap, much like a full OS with complete file access. You could even use a flash drive to load song files instead of needing a computer+iTunes. iTunes is the major crux of Traktor DJ on iOS... possibly the crux of the whole OS in general and why it has lost so much marketshare. I imagine with an android port, there would be quite a few more availabilities to load songs on the fly (kind of like CDJ-2000 and XDJ-RX).

Definitely many things to look forward to if NI decides to move on this.
