I would prefer NI would not start on an Android version...otherwise the iOS developing and bugfixing will be more worse as it is already. Focusing on bugfixing of iOS and supporting the existing customer base makes more sense from my point of view ...

... but the risk is anyhow close to 0% they would work on Android, so I do not have to worry about my personal concerns

That's why a few dedicated android developers would be great- instead of adding to the overhead of the iOS devs.

There would be no change in keeping tge iOS version up to date because it would be a separate set of devs.

Why do you assume NI is interested in hiring aditional developer for Android rollout ?

There are more android users than iOS in the first place. Granted I cannot predict the future, but I know several of my DJ friends would instantly buy an android version- they are pining for it. Only one of the 4 I have in mind use an apple phone/tablet. I can only imagine tens of thousands of other people looking for a pro DJ app for their android device(s). Internationally? Forget about it! I don't think more than 5 people in S Korea own an apple device ;)

There's so much money in it for NI, hiring an extra developer would be pocket change compared to the revenue they would gain from porting it.

And as things move farther and farther away from laptops (and somewhat away from iOS in other respects), it becomes sillier and sillier to give reasons as to why not make it happen. That's why I assume they have to already be considering it, maybe even working on it. Whether or not they hire someone extra seems pretty insignificant in the whole grand scheme.

+1 here. Traktor on my Note Edge and Tab S would be tits. I've been meaning to post this for a while. Funny it was at the very top of the non-sticky threads :p

Well, NI just lost some money from me. I've followed this thread for a while and just don't know why people insist that android devices are not as capable. So I just downloaded cross dj on my lenovo vibe shot i got for 250gbp... (I work in bali and I needed a temporary replacement for my iphone). It has the snap dragon oct core with 3gb ram 128gb (with sd card) storage and an amazing screen and camera etc who cares. Compared to the price of an iPhone6 or iPad air 2 with their mighty powerful 1gb ram..... Anyway, the interface is nothing compared to Traktor DJ but it functions PERFECTLY. Let me stress the PERFECTLY again. I really ragged it, did everything I could to push the hardware, including running on low memory with many other demanding apps in the background, switching between apps, recording the mix, downloading a few apps, taking photos, editing them in snapseed you get the idea. What is more, you can select a mixer output option that enables you to connect to an external mixer with a mono splitter unlike Traktor DJ which had issues preventing this functionality with the DJ cable. I guess this was a move to force you to buy the z1 or one of the audio cards idk. (I confess this may have been fixed recently because I haven't used traktor DJ for quite some time but I predict not. Call me Nostradamus if you like).

People talk about "latency", I don't understand why higher latency is an issue, the reason why I don't understand, is because it IS NOT an issue. Just so you know, there is a good 25-30ms of latency on Traktor DJ on any apple ios device I've used. I can feel anything more than 7ms and as a bassist with studio experience I have a good feeling for latency. Try it yourself, cut the bass quickly with the filter and listen carefully to how long it takes to manifest. Don't quote me on the numbers but there is noticeable latency on Traktor DJ with ios.... It's especially noticeable when using the z1. Who cares? The latency is the same on both decks and unless you are Qbert on a scratch marathon it makes no functional significance what so ever. The quality of the audio processing does make a difference however, the buffering capabilities that cause the latency seem really close in comparison, if the Android devices run on a weaker buffering engine (resulting in higher processing time (latency)) then it must be tight because I couldn't discern any difference in sound quality nor latency.

The simple fact is NI are missing an opportunity here. The platform is powerful and it works perfectly. Are you telling me mixvibes managed to come up with some voodoo like code to squeeze miracles out of the "less capable" android platform? Get real. If mixvibes can do it, NI can do it too.

I DJ with CDJs or every now and then I do something weird on my Elektron Octatrack. Digital DJ apps just make it easier to play those gigs you really don't want to play as favors for your friends or whatever. "Dude would you mind ignoring your friends all night and DJ at my party? Oh and can you bring all your gear and studio monitors so people can practice their wine tossing technique" errrrrr, no. I'll bring my phone and plug into your 2.1 creative labs megablaster :).

I'm not even going to bother buying a new iPhone or apple product ever again. This lenovo piece of junk is actually awesome.... Surface pro 4 and the laptop variant FTW. Windows 10 is awesome too. Apple are not the stalwart of reliability they used to be, boundaries are blurring and they just don't justify the price anymore, if they ever did. It's not all about price though, I just think both Android and Microsoft have better/more tailored solutions these days.

The problem isn't Latency as much anymore on android but the compatibility of making one app working one many different devices, it may work on say a Samsung running lollipop but doesn't mean it will work running kitkat etc. I have sold all my work regarding my DJ app for android as it was a headache for me and a friend, but a team could push to keep on top of it. There are some really good apps in the play store that can use controllers if you want another option

i wonder if i could expect anything here from NI? I am still hoping to use my Traktor Audio 2 on my Android. None of the typical Apps even recognizes it. Other DACs work more or less.
    Any News from NI?

@Mikiloko: we did not get any update even on iOS since over one year! Also no response from the NI team at all. So i assume Android is far away from any NI plans, maybe i am wrong, my coin only. Maybe NI is too busy with stems on Traktor Pro :)

+1 for Android version. I am a little bit surprised that they did not do it yet. And exactly for the reasons richard jaberzadeh said, for all those moments when you need to do a small gig at a friends place and don't want to risk all your equipment or simply to little gig to bring all your toys. Regarding devices, I am the type of guy who will never buy Apple iPhone or iPad because it's to limited for me (in terms of customisation) and I am against their policy regarding compatibility with 3rd party stuff.
Please NI, give as at least a horizon if we can expect Android version somewhere in the future

i get it this must be quite an old post by the time i'm writing this but i really do believe that NI should at least PORT traktor DJ to Android, i understand that these things aren't so simple but i'd love nothing more than to be able to take my tablet to a party, plug in my S2 or even a smaller controller and use the same software i love using on my Mac but without having to bring my £1000 computer to a party, not to mention the fact that i won't have to be stuck Looking for a mains plug every two minutes compared to the fact i can throw in a large capacity power bank and keep going, my Ideal setup would be my Galaxy tab A6, pioneer WEGO3/4 and a power bank, tablet is protected by case, cables are easy to replace and transporting kit is a piece of cake, i absolutely love traktor and my S2 but its time to downsize....

It's more probably NI drops a improved version (more featured than actual) of Traktor dj app for iOS than never going to release an Android version of anything. Aside the point only few Android devices could run music apps near iDevices (like Nexus or S8) which usually are expensive as the majority of iDevices cappable of run these apps (that means I can run Traktor dj app in my old iPad 3gen which if I use it only for djing will be less than 200€ as investment) being the total market target of true cappable iDevices bigger than the potential of the few Android cappable ones. That fact from the standpoint of revenue vs investment is harakiri.
Why does Mixvibes (or even djplayer) playing the Android card? Due the latest Android versions are fixing the basic troubles about low level kernel audio drivers (in iOS/macOS core Audio) and opening the platform and these developers want to take position before it's true realible and NI or Pioneer develops something (as filling the segments even losing money like rekordbox dvs is) and gain some users to being the first. Djplayer done it with DVS at iOS but never become a truly competitor for Traktor. Now with Cross and Edijing being DVS (and no subscription) DjPlayer has more competition than never...

    Conclusion:
It could be possible and desirable from user's pov but not so profitable from devs. If userbase doesn't understand the benefeits of developing a full iMaschine (ala BM3) I will not hold my breath for an Android Traktor app. I could be wrong and I want to be (I don't have problems with buy an Android dedicsted tablet/phone just for djing) but I don't expect so.

thx for the link .. never seen before
But my first understanding: It is nothing else then using the iPad as remote device, right ? you still need a host computer running Traktor Pro .. so no DJ application at all, 'only' a midi remote app. But let us know your feedback after testing, interesting anyhow

Correct, TKFX is not a DJ app, just a controller app for Traktor Pro.
