Hi I'm a traktor DJ normally using my S4 and laptop for my radio shows and scratch pro with audio 4 on the 1210s when at home and I'm very use to these 2 set ups, but I recently purchased the Traktor DJ for my ipad pro so I can have a compact option, I have also purchased the NI split cable, so now you know a little bit of my background, here come some real basic questions,

I want to put my MP3 collection onto my iPad but I don't want to use either iTunes or dropbox to do this, I know there's a few different apps out there but I'm not sure which one may be any good and more importantly what does the Traktor DJ app prefer or dose it not matter.

I have no MP3s at all on my iPad as its brand new and I don't use iTunes for my music on my iPhone as I don't want to be tied into iTunes I just want to DJ with my MP3s some how dropped onto my iPad without any third party involved.

I guess I may sound a bit old fashioned on this but I once lost over 100 Radio jingles from my android pad after dropbox threw a wobbly on me and I then stored the jingle MP3's directly onto the on board storage and that saves any issues with relying on wi-fi and dropbox.

As a Traktor DJ app virgin I have a bunch of basic questions and I'm hoping someone can help with perhaps a direct contact as I don't want to clog up the forum with a load of basic questions, thanks guys and girls in advance.

thanks about details of background ... i got your point, like your idea, also hate itunes ... not old fasioned at all ;)

but you must use itunes to get any songs into TDJ, or lets say more accurately: TDJ can access to the songs of the iOS music collection/app only. TDJ does not suppprt any other input (detail: do not mixup with the Dropbox option in TDJ settings, this is used for internal metadata sync, not for access of song files)

It's an older requirement, but as i know, possible in Traktor Pro but currently not possible in TDJ.

Thanks for your reply, not sure how long it will take to add my collection to iTunes! or if I will need to pay iTunes a monthly fee?

adding songs into itunes works quite fast, minutes only for thousand songs. TDJ will need much longer (hours) to analyszr the songs first time. And no fee needed at all. itunes is free.

Btw: read some itunes description first, e.g. disable any apple uploads or cover research or matches, or even better: enable in settings e.g. "copy files to itunes media folder when adding songs into library" to make sure itunes copies the files and does not write anything into your original song tags.

    good luck ;)

If you want to declutter iTunes, just turn disable everything under restrictions in Preferences as well as turn off "Show Apple Music features" and "iCloud Music Library" under general.

Normally iOS users use the iTunes to transfer songs, videos, images, etc. But if you really don't want to use iTunes to transfer your MP3s onto your iPad Pro, there are other ways - data transfer tools. Some are free to use while others not. You'd better check this out before you choose one.
