Traktor DJ + S4 controller Jogwheel issue

Hi all, can't seem to figure this out
sometimes when i plug my ipad into the s4 controller, the jog wheels take over control of scrolling/scratching through the track, and I can no longer do it using my fingers on the waveform. Other times this doesn't happen, which i my preferred option. I now have the top deck in which i can only move the waveform with the jogwheel, and the bottom deck in which i can do it with my fingers. How is this feature activated/deactivated, can't seem to work it out.
