Traktor DJ + Traktor S2MkII -> What's the point of the "CUE" button ?

I'm using Traktor DJ + Traktor S2MkII and I notice the "CUE" button of each deck (not the hot cues but the one between "SYNC" and "PLAY") is almost unuseful and can actually lead you to make a mistake in the way it's currently implemented.

Currently, you may use it to drop an arbitrary cue push it to have the track going back to the position initially set. However it's impossible to change the position of this cue, unlike hot cues which may be deleted with SHIFT-1, 2, 3 or 4 and remapped.

One more clever and more natural way I would see it implemented would be that the "SHIFT-CUE" button is mapped as a "SET CUE" so that you can dynamically move this cue and use it in another part of the song.

Currently the "SHIFT+CUE" is mapped as a "go back to begin of track" action and is actually printed so on the MKII, so another way to do it without disturbing the original mapping on the hardware would be to find another short-cut like using the headphone cue buttons instead with "SHIFT" in order to perform a "SET CUE" action.

To put it simply, without a "SET-CUE" button, I see now point of having a "CUE" button mapped. But maybe (and I hope so) I'm missing something as there could actually already be a "SET CUE" action mapped that I didn't figure out to find.

So far the only way for me to move the cue generated by the "CUE" button is to unload and reload the track.

I found another way to move the CUE position : You may push the "SET LOOP" button in the left rotary button of each Deck twice. However you have to take care of not having a too small loop or you're going to actually loop the track before pushing the button for a second time to disable the Loop.

Another way to do it is to set the Deck in FLUX mode then just make sure the loop you have isn't too small as said before and push the "SET LOOP" rotary button once.

I'd prefer to have a dedicated "SET CUE" button though as all these methods may lead to mistakes. From my experience in MIDI mapping a Vestax Spin 2 in recent versions of Traktor PRO, I understand that for some reason the "SET CUE" action has been deprecated by NI which is recommending "SET LOOP". But I don't understand why they did this as the two functions are very different.

... I found a solution, as I had the same problem before:

There's a easy way how to move the CUE position: Press the jogwheel, then move to any position you want, then press CUE, release the jogwheel .. done ;) .. found via try-and-error, nothing mentioned in the Manual.

Be aware, also the Quant Button (on the SK4) defines the range of th exact CUE position. On S2 I assume you should check Quant in the Traktr DJ options. What I could not fnd is how to delete a CUE position at all

    hope helps ;)

Thanks Kalo, Traktor DJ mapping is sometimes strange and lacks consistency, and I sometimes can't understand why NI has different mapping for Traktor DJ vs Traktor Pro for the same Kontrol S2 controller.
