Traktor doesn't find my 3000 plus MP3 files within my iTunes Music Folder. I am running an iMac with Mac OSX 10.2.4 and Traktor 2.03,

Having read various posts I have converted my ID3 Tags and the best I've achieved is recognition for 165 MP3 files.

What I haven't been able to establish is whether anyone has actually achieved a situation on a Mac with OSX where Traktor does recognise ALL iTunes hosted MP3's?

Could you please let me know whether you have and if you have, the extact steps you went through to get this much desired outcome.

I look forward to your responses - I've spent hours on this.

    thanks in advance

    Graham

i'm on os X and all my itunes mp3 are recognized by Traktor.
i never touched anything to make this happen either
however the rating system in itunes is not written in the IDtag and comments cannot be read in traktor.

What's very sad is that you cannot import anything to Traktor from itunes. A playlist would of been nice. Drag and drop from itunes doesn't work either.

NI promotes iTunes integration- but it's just a myth.

~Yes - a cursory glance at the NI sales pitch shows a complete iTunes integration but the one killer function which is missing is the "import itunes playlist to current Traktor playlist" - that my friend would rock....

reason being is that on mac osx the screen is very busy while with itunes it is very simple to manage your collection.

Overall I'm not complaining as Traktor is one rocking piece of software - just waiting for the Novation Remote 25 to come out so I can really dig in.........

Speajing of Remote 25 - is this a mythical product? I've been waiting for ages on my order.....does anyone actually have one?:D

i totally agree with kimhill. Putting itunes on the webpage was a big rip off.
it's like saying "traktor can read mp3 from your harddrive"

Can native explain exactly why they promote itunes on their website ??

I posted a while ago that I was going to do this myself in python. It's really easy, I just lack motivation. I probably should though, I kinda get sick of deleting my entire collection and reimporting every time I do a massive import.

    It's all about XML parsing.

The ability to use the iTunes playlists and such is coming very soon. Ni has been working with Apple to get everything working as seamlessly as possible. Just be patient.

I think there's a misinterpretation of what NI is defining as "iTunes integration"... We can't utilize playlists yet, but the iTunes Library method of organizing tracks is viewable in Traktor and that's how I find stuff in the Explorer branch.

In that regard I think iTunes greatly bolsters Traktor's method of locating tracks and designating them as part of your Track Collection within Traktor. On the other hand, this isn't as seamless as it sounds.

I had a problem locating tracks that iTunes would list by ARTIST, but when I would look up that artist I couldn't find certain tracks. Traktor was sorting these files into a folder called Compilations instead... it's like a little Bermuda Triangle in that folder of tracks I couldn't find! I suggest anyone using Traktor and iTunes look up "Artist -> Compliations" and look in that folder under your Traktor Explorer and see what's in there.

The "Compliations" thing seems to come from some other part of the mp3's tag, but not the Artist field. ( Example: Anyone with a copy of "Felix da Housecat - Kittenz and Thee Glitz" CD should try importing it then locating the track "Happy Hour" from this album... it's not sorted by Felix... it's sorted by Traktor under "Compliations" even though iTunes sorts this under Artist: Felix...")

It sounds to me like the people saying iTunes is useful now are referring to the fact that iTunes' MP3 tag information (eg "Artist") can be read in Traktor. In this scenario, iTunes is useful only as a convenient MP3 tag editor. This is not integration. Perhaps I haven't understood what they were saying.

It's great to hear from Dj Hobbes that real integration is coming, but it's not good PR to claim a feature before it's implemented.

Happy to see itunes integrated and glad to see that NI are not obsessive about becoming the defacto mp3 organiser.

Rightly - they will be aware that iTunes will constantly be added to and it would be madness to ignore the fact that it is the most pop. player within MacLand.

I must confess though - in the interim it really is a pain reimporting my whole collection everytime I change from using my 200Gig firewire (gigs) to using the mac hard disk....

On that point - has anyone else had a problem with tunes located on their Mac hardisk (mine is the g4 laptop main drive) not being recognised? I could only get access to the CD player.

    Anyway - killer program.
