I actually picked up the KDJC3BL for $125 on Amazon. It is a decent case about 3/8 in foam sides and a foam wedge to hold the controller in place as well as a tilted up section for the controller to sit on, nice performance angle
. I have to fly to play this weekend and really wanna play on the S8 and I am on the fence about if it is enough protection. It is just a little too big for the overhead. The FZGS case does look like another case they just added more foam to. That thing is HUGE and the slider is obnoxious, the price is pretty high. A custom one would probably be cheaper.

I was on one of the S8 Workshops here in Germany where the dude had one prototype Flightcase. He said it ist not in production but will be coming. I guess christmas would make a perfect match ;)

Ok, so I got the UDG Urbanite Flight Midi case, Large. It "fits", but there's loose space, both on the sides (which you can fill with the foam pads, so no problem), but also on between the controller and the top. The way I fixed this is to put the extra pads along the bottom (see pictures). It raises it almost enough, but it still wiggles back and forth a little. I think the decksaver top would protect it.

Note - the S8 decksaver cover isn't even on the Decksaver website yet.

That said, it's good enough for the moment, at least until I get a Magma S8 case (it's on their website, but not sure where to get it yet). Good enough solution as a shoulder bag to bring to / from gigs.

BUT - and this is a pretty important BUT imho - I don't this the S8 will ever be a carry-on controller. Maybe with a super-optimal case and the decksaver top. But I would be worried about having to sky-check or (overmydeadbody) baggage check it. We'll see, am going on a flight to a gig in December, let's see if I can find a travel-friendly case before then. But still not sure that the airline will let me bring it on the plane with me. My S4 is still my go-to flight companion (using a MONO cases Kontroller bag, best bag I have ever owned for a controller).

Thoughts? I looked at the Gator G25 as well, but I think having it stick out 1.5" from the bag is asking for trouble if you need to walking in a little rain from A to B. I like the walkability aspect.

Thanks for posting the review of the UDG bag, I'm just about to order the same and looks decent to me.

Did it come with all those extra pads? (might be an idea to get some dedicated foam padding for it in the long run)

Regarding carry-on, for those in the UK I've already talked to RyanAir (ohh the joys of promoters getting the cheapest flights they can) and they've said you can't take it as carry-on, its just too big. Only options they gave me were to check it in (nofrigginway) and to buy an extra seat. Apparently you can buy an extra seat and you just put the name down as 'SEAT ITEM' or something like that. Fine for cheap flights, actually works out cheaper sometimes than paying an extra baggage charge but could imagine it getting expensive fast. Plus it probably makes a rubbish travel partner.

And what about the Pioneer DJC-SC5? I know that S8 is in depth: 38.7 cm and the bag has only 35cms... but maybe would fit? That is an awesome bag!

    Welcome.

I would not advise putting a £1,000 controller in a bag that is not 100% perfect.

I know but just 3,7 cms... XD Maybe the Urbanite is the only good option but I think is too large for the controller

Did any of you see the recent Carl Cox video with the S8?
I caught this screen grab. Gotta be an NI S8 case on the way I think:

I'm sure Magma will bring one out. I have Magma cases for my S4MK2 and S2MK2 and I would definitely buy one for my S8.

Could be a third-party case with just a Traktor sticker on? I know there's a few that have started making them

I ended up going for the UDG bag and I reckon it does the job really well! Its crazy big but then so's the unit so not quite sure what sort of tardis effect I thought it was going to have haha.

It's not made for the unit however with the supplied foam inserts it keeps it in place well and worked well for gigs this weekend just gone. The shoulder strap is more sturdy than you'd think looking at the photos, even with the unit, a 17" macbook, Crane stand and F1 in it, it still felt really sturdy without any worry it'd fail. If you're looking for an all-in-one this suits the bill quite well but expect that 'DJ shoulder' condition to come back if you're carrying it too far. Also, be prepared for a load of 'EXCUSE ME!' as you try to weave what feels like a bus through the busy crowd.

Slightly off-topic but it was the first time I'd used the S8 out and it worked really well. Found myself looking up and towards the crowd more, very rarely glancing at the laptop screen. However searching for an individual track sucks, it was still always better going to the laptop rather than scrolling seemingly infinitely through the list to find what I was after.

Next month I'm going to ask in my usual shop for the pioneer bag, it's an amazing bag and I think it would fit well apart from that 3cms less... If not we have the magma one or the udg Urbanite...

I have the pioneer djc-sc5 it fits well. I am either going to order the oddyssey flight case or the NI one(if it comes out in next 2-3 months).

There will be a Magma CTRL CASE coming in January (no plans for a dedicated S8 backpack). The Magma RIOT XXL fits as well, as does the Rolltop Backpack II ... according to Magma:

"Es wird erstmal keinen speziellen Backpack für den S8 geben, aber der RIOT XXL passt auch.
Dadurch, dass der S8 nicht so lang ist, wird die Tasche in der Breite etwas flexibler und fasst auch den S8."

"Ansonsten würde der ROLLTOP-BACKPACK II auch passen als auch CTRL CASE S (welches ab Januar lieferbar ist)"
