You will need to put two of them on a powered USB Hub.
Latency wont be an issue with the NI protocol.

I hate USB Hubs but they may be a necessary evil.

Cant you Daisy chain your 1Ds via the Midi ports ?

 

Personally I'm not liking the vertical layout of the effects section. I've got a Faderfox DJ2 & DX2 and the latter's FX control is so intuitive (being a precise mirror of the software panel) I wouldn't want to swap.

And charging separately for the case is just a liberty IMO.

 

Yeah im a huge fan of the DX2 i love the layout too.

I must mention though that Faderfox also sells the case for there units (although it is a flight case).

I dont think NI would have made the layout as such if it didnt feel right.
I agree it doesnt look like it should be vertical but im guessing that it will function really well allowing access to the buttons.

pity they did not include a hub like what they didi on the Stanton series.

Something vool would be a series of controler, pluggable together (like the Faderfoxes) but with USB instead of midi, one of them with external power to ensure everything cnooected has got enough juice. One controler with volume faders could be a great addition to the series

 

Well, my DJ2 is not a mixer is just a controller and it has faders, this is not a complete solution for Traktor as I expected coming form NI, just another toy to carry to your gigs and fill the booth. Now that we are free of record bags do we have to carry a whole studio just for djing? Big mistake NI, big mistake.

 

Just because it's not what YOU need doesn't mean it's a mistake. This is made to be used along side an external mixer as in Richie Hawtin's video tease. They may yet come out with an "all in one" controller with 4 platters and 4 upfaders 4 FX units, yada yada yada, but that would be way more of a pain to take along than one of these, an audio 8 and a laptop, connect to the house mixer and away you go.

 

Well its clear that it was impossible to please all people but the brief was to create a Midi controller to be used with an external mixer/DVS or contoller with a mixer section so it clearly fits the brief. DJ2 faders would be wasted on a controller that is meant for use with a mixer.

I dont get why people who see this unit as not fitting there purpose see it as a fail.
People who dont want Jog wheels dont look at the VCI 100 as a fail because it has jogs . They see it as a contoller that doesnt suit there needs.

Where are the Filter and Key of the Deck. Favorit Selctor,
Hotcue Section is on a shift Function....when u will play with only a controller, this function must be in the first Section!
And so on...NI have a Controller for the old Traktor Scratch,...not for Traktor Pro or DUO.
U´ll be right when u say, its only for 2 Decks, but the FX Units depends not from the Deck Numbers ;-)
And so on.....its a very cheap copy of the Faderfoxes Serie, how was made long time ago, and Mr Faderfox had the right idea where is Traktor will be go....but the people from NI dont know what the right hand and left hand do! And thats not nice!

Solong, i use the DX2 and build my own 4 Deck Controller ;-) Have a look to the German Forum for this theme.

By the way, i heard some nice messages....a new Fox Series will be come ;-)

 

For all the people hating on this controller, I' just gonna repeat what I wrote 2 pages ago:

The only thing people should therefore truly be upset about is N.I. asking 39 friggin Euros for a small softcase....that is not cool at all!

 

I don´t hat it, but NI make a Program, and bring a controller for this program, not more and not less....but this controller is made for anything else as for traktor

I don´t need a fader...i have a Mixer, and i have TSP and audio8, and thats the way how i work. i dont use Timecode....i´m on the way like richie...
imho there a few of primary function i will missing on this controller

+1 Having to wait until Feb and having to pay 39 Euros for an NI handbag sucks!

 

If it was a flightcase or at least an Odyssey-style hardcase I would deem it more worth it.

Now that I think about it, I believe I'll just build a case for this thing if/when I buy it. Unless the case is as sturdy as that reinforced Odyssey cartridge case I got with my Qberts, I don't see it lasting long with all the punishment it would get being schlepped from gig to gig once or twice a week.

 

Two X1`s and my Maschine and i`m in controller heaven!

 

I will have to say that i was getting a bit frustrated with my 4d and TSI mapping ETC. this is what I need. i will be rocking this with with my 4d,and maschine.

 

How does it compare to the Faderfox DX2? What features does this have that stand out from the Faderfox?

I hope that their next controller has 4 channels/ Platters & all these control options integrated into it. Im assuming this wont be for a while as they still want to sell their audio interfaces. But when such a controller is finally put out we wont have to have 23718971238473874 differnt controlers/ mixers/ midi mapping so on.
