I'm curious about the control of FX. Is there really only one per channel?

I'm guessing it will be the same as Traktor but you can probably only control 2 at any one time (shift toggle)

I currently own a Kontrol S4 with 2 CDJs. Do you think that I should buy the Z2 (or Z4 if they make one), wait for new Kontrol S4 (If they make one) or keep my S4?

Seems like you have a serious bit of hardware. If what you have works for you, and the Z2 doesn't have some super-whippy functionality that you can't live without, use your current rig until it dies, then trade up.

I remember reading an article way back when with one of the creators of the 'Animusic' project. He recalled a conversation he had with some animation student who went on and on about his dream setup. The response?

    (Paraphrase)
    - Building the rig you want doesn't matter nearly as much as really knowing how to use the rig you already have.

I am considering a Z2 for one big reason: Size and weight. This is assuming the unit weighs less than the S4's 8 lbs.

My argument doesn't hold water if your an armchair DJ, or even if you tour North America. It's that pesky trip into, through, and out of Afghanistan that gets a bit tricky. A smaller unit with less weight would certainly be better. And since I am all thumbs when it comes to scratching, losing the platters wouldn't be much of a hardship.

Remapping blah, blah, blah. I know.

    definitely right!

the Z2 is aimed at the scratch DJs... i doubt that it is lighter - it would move along with heavy scratch action. it has to have some weight.

Just got the pre order through via email. 799.00 euro's which is around £620.00
looking on the site am i right in saying that this doesn't come on it's own but sold with a version of trak/scratch CD & vinyl time codes?

if so i'd rather not be buying the soft or the timecodes as i already own them.

surely the z2 must be availble to purchase cheaper by itself?

How much do you REALLY think you'd save if you didn't have to buy the software or timecode? That stuff is low cost "Case Candy" for NI. It adds value to the product without costing them much of anything. It's probably not going to be available by itself... I own 5 different copies of traktor now.. S4, Audio6, F1 x2, and I will own another when I buy the Z2.

damn, I just bought an S4 and two F1 but I definately gonna switch to the Z2, 2 x F1 and an X1.

I'm mixing electro as well as hiphop battlestyle, so the Z2 is just perfect for me :)

btw. does anyone want to buy a near mint S4? I think I'll give it away for about 700€
