I have been demo-ing Traktor and absolutely love what the capabilities are.
My request may come a bit far fetched but I'm going to throw it in there because it's been something I have been seeking for some time.
The idea is having the ability to DJ songs with multi tracks as opposed to a stereo file.

So basically, picture the layout of any DAW where you have multi tracks, and this is what Traktor Mix (tentatively titled for convenience) would look like.
The 'tracks' within Traktor Mix are 'decks'. Everything one can do now within a deck in Traktor can be done within a 'track' in Traktor Mix. For convenience, i'll just refer to the decks as "tracks".

The main advantage is having the ability to put each instrument of a song to it's exclusive track which one can now manipulate alone or with the other tracks. Just imagine the possibilities, you beat slice the drums while reversing a vocal track and adding distortion to a bass track all on the fly. One can also add vocals from another track to a different song and manipulate it to fit the current song playing.

Now one point that can be brought up is the availability of songs with multi tracks to have the ability to DJ them with an application such as this.

    1. If you are a producer, you can write your own tunes/loops. In fact, it would be cool if Traktor Mix allowed audio recording so one can record into it and have the files immediately available for manipulation. Heck, this actually opens up a whole new can of worms since it would be great for realtime live loop recording!

    2. Since NI is affiliated with Beatport, think of how cool it would be to let artists/labels know they are accepting multi tracked songs for use with Traktor Mix!

    Anyhow, there it is. :D

Someone thought of this idea about 10 years ago, and called it Ableton Live :)

Is that right? Explain to me, in detail, how Ableton Live does exactly what I am requesting. Keep in mind, I am asking for all the current features in Traktor to be implemented into Traktor Mix where each 'deck' becomes a 'track'.

Speaking of ABleton though, I do like the master crossfader where each track can be assigned to either the A or B channel. This would go well with Traktor Mix.

it may not do "exactly" what you're requesting in the way you're requesting... but that's pretty much what the core idea of Live is....

I was being facetious, but I don't really see anything in your feature request that you can't do in Live. IMO, some of the key advantages of Traktor over Live for DJing are the workflow enhancements for loading tracks etc on the fly from your crate. I can't see how you would implement multitracks in Traktor without losing these.

All IMO, obviously... and with the proviso I'm not really a heavy Traktor user.

Right. It may have the same features but the implementation is horrible IMO. IE: setting loop points and changing the loop position within the song on the fly.
I actually do have Live and have been a user since its inception. Unfortunately, it really fails in the workflow department as far as Live performance is concerned. It's ok for triggering loops/scenes but that's about it. It makes a nice effects processor though.

There you go. Play with Traktor and really get to know it, then attempt the same thing within Live and you'll see Traktor has great workflow and features that if implemented within a multi track environment, it would be the ultimate live performance tool.

Again, the tracks are just like the current Traktor decks. The crate could be positioned on the left side and from here you could Drag N drop files onto tracks (or use a MIDI controller to scroll etc.) all on the fly as the song is playing.

You know, as I am typing, I think I can explain it easier.....

Picture the current Traktor deck as it is now; a stereo file player. Envision it exactly as it is.

Now, with my request, just add the ability to load multiple files within the deck.
So each deck, instead of just playing only stereo files, it can now play multiple files. I feel that explains things easier instead of the whole Traktor Mix example.

With these multiple files within one deck, you can have them all get affected/manipulated simultaneously or separately.

Now that I think of it, this does sound better because now the multiple tracks can have the option to be visible under the Advanced Panel. It would make for a neater appearance.
So the Traktor layout would remain the same but now just allow multi tracks within each deck *and* allow these files to be manipulated simultaneously or individually.

So IE, say you have 8 tracks for one song and you decide to beatslice the drum track while reversing a vocal track while the other 6 tracks continue to play down the timeline.
You can do this and then release the effects on the 2 tracks and they will playback in sync with the other 6 tracks. All on the fly, in realtime!

Or you can have different loop points per track then have them "meet" at the same point of the song upon release.
