traktor mk2

i have purchased a second hand traktor or mk 2 controller ,
it wouldn’t power up so i bought a new mains cable , when i plunged it in the same problem occurred ... it powers up for a moment and all the lights come on but immediately everything goes off apart from one orange light which i think is to do with the power cable it has three wire logo on it and the light is orange in the middle of the controller ... does anyone know what is wrong with it ? are there internal battery’s in it that need replacing maybe ? xxx

 

Which controller ? S2 or S4 mk2 .. and which Traktor ?
Thats totally normal, the NI controller flash lights on power on, then dims all led after.
There is no internal accu inside. Test your controller in Traktor Pro, maybe works already.

 

hi there thank you so much for your help , ive never used a knot roller before , it’s all a mine field ... i can now get a solid orange light in the usb light and also i can get the mic button to light up but nothing else ? i’m downloading traktor dj2 on my windows pc , do you think the kontroller will come to life once i’m connected to the software because at the moment it seems like it’s not working ?

 

Yes, you need to have the software running for the controller to work.

 

you guys are so kind replying to me ... i really appreciate it , i’m actually trying to get it to work for my fiancé , it’s so funny coz i don’t know what i’m doing , i think i have downloaded the software ... it says the device is recognised , ive downloaded traktor dj too but not sure if i’ve got the correct software version ? i’ve got driver version 3.1.0
firmware 23
interface connected
usb buffet 4
no errors found
but still the kontroller isn’t linking to the traktor dj and i can’t get any action at all .... can anyone help and thanks so much for help so far xx

 

Judging by the driver and firmware version, it sounds like you have the MK1. Are the jog wheels black or silver on top?

If they are black, you have the older MK1, which only works with Traktor Pro. If the seller did not transfer their license to you, you will have to buy Traktor Pro for $99. You could also download the free demo first to make sure the controller is not faulty.

If they are silver, you have the MK2, which works with either Traktor Pro or Traktor DJ 2. The latter is a free download.

hi there Erik and everyone else who offered support with my technical problems ....
So i have a Traktor kontrol S2 MK 1 ...
the traktor dj2 software is not compatible with this model ... the way that you can tell it’s not comparable is the kontroller seems to not be working , the usb light is orange but nothing else seems to work ... you would definitely think your kontrol is broken and that your usb cable is faulty but this is not the case !
on Eriks recommendation i downloaded the traktor dj pro 3 software and as if by magic once i pressed launch demo my kontrol came to life ... all the switches and faders linked to my windows laptop and i was up and running , i will now purchase the software for the $90 as i think it’s worth it rather than spending loads on a new kontrol ... very very grateful to this forum and hope i can help others with what these guys have taught me xxx
