Traktor Pro and CDJ 2000

Guys and Gals,

Does Traktor Pro (on mac) support 4 deck controllability from 2 x CDJ-2000's?

At the moment through HID control I can only manage to control 2 decks (A and B) - but I would obviously like to use all 4.

Help please!

I guess You'd have to buy 4 CDJ 2000-s then . Or use audio 8 soundcard (then You cannot use cdj2000s soundcard(s) anymore as far as i've found out). How well it works with 4 players via. HID is a bigger question, as at the moment TSP has too many bugs to play even with 2 players. Waiting for patch, until then no Traktor, only cdj2000-s and external hdd for me. If they can fix the latency problems and other glitches then Traktor will be superb with 2ks.

Yes it can, you need to aggregate the CDJ's sound card so TP can see for example. CDJ-20001 CDJ-20002 CDJ-20003 etc.....

How do you play out 3rd and 4th channl to mixer when using 2 cdjs ?

He has two CDJ and wants to control 4 Decks ...so he has to use internal mixer or a 4 channel soundcard like audio 8.
Also he could not control 4 decks in HID Mode completly as the HID display is bound to the assigned deck. If you ignore the display you can map a "shift" key and work with modifiers to control different deck, but this doesn't work for display.

You can also use Midi Mode, there is no display at all

 

Yeah, that's what i figured too. I think best bet might be IMO to use audio 8 and A & B channel use with cdj2000s and C & D deck use with Kontrol X1 i.e. That's what i'm gonna do, if Traktor gets HID & 2k-s working perfectly.

 

Hopefully they will get this sorted in an upcoming update...

I'll have to keep on using the xone 4d to control the other 2 decks

that brings me to another question - does anyone know how to use both the xone 4d and cdj 2000 to control traktor - ie. decks controlling playback functions and the xone 4d controlling effects etc?

Would I have to form some kind of aggregate device containing the cdj 2000s and the xone 4d?

you need aggregated device for your 2 CDJ, you can add other soundcard like your 4d to enhance numer of channels ...

but maybe it would be better still use the 4D direct for sound output instead an aggregated device ...

What function you control with wich controller depends only on your mapping ...
you will use the cdj in HID mode and 4D in Midi mode
typically would be using transport controls
CDJ - Deck A & B
4D - Deck C & D
and all additional controls of 4d for FX for all 4 Decks.

That last combo sounds perfect - but do you know what settings I would use in the mac midi setup and traktor pro? (sorry, i'm a newbie to all this)

I would choose D4 as audiocard in Traktor as before.
Afterwards connect the 2 CDJs.
Traktor should automatic detect them.
Assign them to deck A and B.
You should now have following szenario:
audio: 4D
control: CDJ control deck A & B

Thats was the easy part.
Now we come to integration of 4D Midi.
I don't know if you previously worked with 4d and midi mode.
if yes your setting shoul always be active, otherwise you have load a tsi for 4D,
i don't know if there already exits one in Traktor defaults or if you would receive it from A&H.
When you loaded the 4D setting you have this szenario:
Audio 4D
CDJ control Deck A&B
4D controls all 4 Decks.
Now you have to change the 4D mapping.
This part depends how the 4d mapping is made.
From here on you need help by an other 4d user.
