    Thanks.....

Hi there and thanks for your help..... stupid moment by me.... cause ive been so used to my power pc i did not think to check the spec as i have already got traktor 3 on it but never used it and i did not stop to think about the spec......

Got one more silly question if you can help though?

as ime stuck to using traktor 3 i cant seem to get the headphones working? i am not using a midi controller yet so i will be doing all the controls through the mouse and keyboard.....

do you know the correct settings in the audio set up to do the headphones as i have tried all the ways and it does not seem to be working and it works fine on the laptop but not on the ppc?

    cheers....

    :)

    You're kidding, right?

Have you read the manual? Searched the forums? At all?

Let me guess...you're not using an external soundcard, right? You're plugging your headphones into the headphone jack on your laptop and you're expecting your internal speakers to play the main outputs while you cue on your headphones? Right?

    No not kidding?

like i said before i have managed to set it up ok on the Laptop and it is working fine and i am using an External soundcard and no i have not just tried to use the headphone port on the laptop?

this problem i have is on the power pc which i am using an external souncard but i am not using the program with a midi controller , all i am doing is pressing all the buttons with the mouse and i cant seem to set the headphones to work?

And yes i have read the manual and checked the forums but what i am being told to do does only seem to work when you have a midi controller in use?

    Ok?

You don't need a midi controller to do anything in Traktor.

What kiind of setup do you have? WHat kind of soundcard? Are you SURE you followed everything in the manual correctly? How are your outputs setup in Traktor?

    We need information dude....come on.

When playing with all 4 TP decks, it almost impossible to record the mix cleanly without resorting to some 3rd party tool like Audio Hijack Pro, JackOSX, or Virtual Cable (PC).

A serious bug that is still not fixed in 1.0.2.

    bummer,

    Kris..

    Its pretty awesome.

I dl'd the demo a while back and found it worth purchasing.

Being able to loop every 4/8/16 measures is extremely helpful on the fly. Being able to use Traktor's effects AND the mixer effects at the same time is mind blowing. Syncing and Key match are still top notch.

Just need a little midi box like the AH 1D to control stuff in Traktor.

aside from the problem i mentioned here in the technical issues forum. Which i have "worked around" by not beatgridding/cueing my tracks on the fly or as quick as i usually do.

Pro worked fantastic for a 3-4 hr party last night, this is the first time ive used it outside my bedroom and it was well behaved for the whole night.

one of the funnest moments i had involved 2 advanced fx units running the flanger and the gater filter, along with the deck filter.
using the x/y pad on a korg padkontrol to control the gater and just ripping the track to pieces then turning all 3 filters off for the bassdrop - the (loungeroom) crowd loved it.

It took me a little while to get the TPro upgrade and am now working on fine tuning my MIDI controlllllllllllllllllllllllllors and collection/playlists.

    * The GUI is great! much better with a clear high visibility layout.
    * Love the new browser fullscreen toggle, very useful.
    * Love the new way FX are managed, this is more like the hardware mixers with FX sends but with the benefits of software configuration.
    * Great to see more FX options and love the FX chaining options.
    * Love the improvements to MIDI mapping, the modifier key option is far better than the old page mode.

I have yet to see how this works on timecode and want to delve deeper into Pro. I am sure this will provock more controllers, software and future feature requests.

The autogrid function and BPM lock are also very nice features and may not get it right all the time, can and do save quite a bit of time when beat gridding.

It would seem it's still not possible to search on Key, also is it still possible to search using queries, haven't found anything on this in the manual as yet.

Also I didn't see anything in the hotkey/midi mapping for selecting the search options, is this missing or have I just missed it?

My impressions are overall very positive.

Having previously only used Ableton Live for digital DJing, so rather than compare T3 and TPro, I'll compare Live and Tpro:

    - I welcome the way Traktor allows me to see 2 (or more) decks at a time. It seems obvious, but it's something lacking in Live.
    - Syncing is great, it's not as foolproof as Live's approach though, due to the way Live automatically syncs to the bar rather than the beat.
    - It's a relief to get away from Live's 'master tempo' concept.
    - With Traktor I feel like I'm in a proper DJ application, rather than a DAW dressed up as a DJ tool, which is how Live felt.
    - Autogrid seems very good at detecting the bpm, and usually only a small nudge is required to get the grid alignment correct.

The only issue I have had so far: A corrupt (I assume) wav file caused Traktor to freeze when I dragged the track onto a deck, requiring a full system restart to kill the Traktor process. This issue is covered in another thread. It would be very bad mojo to have that occur on stage... I can't understand how a corrupt file could kill then entire application?

I join to your idea, eq needed on external mode, why not?

Yes, yes, eq needed on external mixer mode....

well yes, some people still believe shouting will bring forth a solution... yet I remember reading somewhere that the energy you'd produce by screaming at the top of your lungs all day would be barely enough to heat a cup of coffe. so why bother letting your anger out, it won't help anyone :)

I'm curious. why would you need that?

just for fun, please give me an example where you use more than 3 decks and it doesn't sound like crap. yes, I know mr. hawtin does that, but really, that's the only thing you can do when you spin minimal. you need to layer 4 tracks to get something that sounds like one track of real, actual music :)

besides, it might very well depend on your hardware. maybe your setup can't cope with the amount of data it has to handle while playing 4 tracks and recording at the same time. have you thought of that? how do you have everything set up? recording onto a different drive that you're playing the tracks from might be a good start...

For Kills and EQ control when the Club Mixer is either rubbish or an installation mixer such as the Rane i have to use tonite that has virtually no eq either Plus or Minus. The Rane is a quality mixer but its EQ is non-existent. With out the sofware EQ there is no control over EQ coming from the mixer. Also many club soundsytems can be a bit toppy (like the one tonite) i can lop the top off .
Trust me i/we need that feature back.

a quick fix is to set it to internal mode and run one deck all the way to one side of the crossfader, and the other deck to the headphone cue. On the audio output routing setup just place the master and monitor to diferent outs on your sound card. This way both decks respond to EQ and can be individualy controled in your external mixer. It only takes care of decks A and B but it should help most DJs since not everybody needs four decks running at once twicked to the max

    simply want back:
    - preview volume
    - external volume (former for additional monitors)
    - ability to patch through input (here: microphone attatched to the external soundcard)

will keep me on the 3.x
    - interface that works with lower resolution (15,4"/1200x800 or so)
    - ogg file destruction (suppose it comes from Pro writing tags)

so 4 of 5 wishes tell:
I didn't intend to get new hardware for TPro

I've never had so many problems with a so called "Pro" software. This thing crashes, is buggy, and I can't trust it to take to gigs on my Compaq Intel Duo 1.6 Gh, with 2Gb ram - Windows 7 beta.

The play buttons don't respond half the time from my controller (or the GUI), the files get corrupted constantly.

I'd love this software if it was stable, but I've got every setting turned off to maximize this beast of a program and it still won't hold....

    WTF?
