right. I figured out how to get the effects to work but, I want to map them to the buttons on the rmx do you know what those effect buttons are labeled in traktor?

or do I have to click them with my mouse when I want to use them?

    thanks.

If you look at the document included with the Hercules mapping, you'll see that the Effects buttons are already assigned in the mapping.

Press and hold the SCRATCH button, then use buttons 1/2/3 to enable or disable the effects ( same principal for each decks).

The BALANCE buttons also serves to vary the Dry/Wet mix of FX Unit 1 and FX Unit 2 (pressing the SCRATCH buttons is also needed for FX Unit 2)

You have to press the "scratch" button to toggle the FX on and off...

Right I understand that but, how do you turn on the effect when mixing? Within traktor the 1 or 2 FX button needs to be pressed for the effect to work what button on the RMX controls that?

No. You'll need to turn these On with your mouse ( Say FX 1 for Deck A and FX 2 for deck B) .

    Hercules RMX Midi Controller

To change easily your buttons behaviors, install the Midi Mapper.
It will helps you modifying actions and interactions between RMX and TDj Pro.

Interface is great and simple. You will be able to assign whatever behavior you like to any push button or faders ...

    Enjoy.

Why would you need to install the mapper since all the configurations are done within Traktor ?

Using the Midi Mapper helps seeing wich number is used by RMX console for each button.
Then, when you set up your buttons as you like on the preferences/ Controller-Manager you know what is mapped under each command.

For exemple, if I want to assign a behavior to the left Keypad push button, Midi Mapper tells me it's called "CC1". Then I go to the Traktor Control Manager and find more easyli this one. There are 90 knobs & buttons on RMX that can be assigned as you like.

Well, if it's good for me, that can helps folks outside ...

    By the way,

anyone knows how to assign a "shift" mapping ? I can't figure out how to assign a two buttons command. Let's say I'd like to scroll my library by pressing on the "scratch button" (holding it) then turning the rignt big wheel at the same time. This way I could save single buttons actions.

Is it a stupid question or is there a simple solution. When I first launched Hercules and Tracktor there were "shift shortcuts", but after changing everything I can't proceed to program a two buttons shortcut ...

    Thx fot your answers.

    Achille,

You don't need the MIDI mapper to know the MIDI command on each key of DJ Console Rmx, the MIDI commands of the Rmx are listed at the end of the Rmx manual.

The MIDI mapper is useful with other software than Traktor, for example for Ableton Live whose mapping of MIDI commands is less open than Traktor's, but as in Traktor you can assign any action to any MIDI command, you can really do what you want in Traktor without using the MIDI mapper.

    Dear Made In Breizh,

Thank you for your help. Unfortunatly when I look into the Rmx Manual (english version page 24, 25 & 26) numeric values doesn't match.
    Ex : "Right Keypad 6 / Bx 1E Value / Button - Toggling Outpout / 7F: Pressed - 00: Released "
In Midi Mapper this button is mentioned "Push Button 25 assigned to CC30".
I don't understand the way Traktor can "learn" a combinaison of two buttons !

I can manage to select "device : Generic Midi DJ Console RMX (port1)" and change buttons fonctions but no way to assign a combinaison ...

Any idea ? Did you manage to customize your Rmx commands, assigning a combinaison ? (for ex. scrolling your library list with a combinaison of jog wheel and Scratch button - held) ?

    Thanks for your knowledge.

The MIDI values in the manual are given in Hexadecimal.

As per your example: 30 (in Decimal) = 1E ( in Hex)

You can use your calculator (in scientific mode) or use one of the many web convertor:

    http://easycalculation.com/decimal-converter.php

And beside, when you are in Learn mode in Traktor, pressing a button will automatically recognize the MIDI command.

As for combinaison, what you describe as wanting to do has mode to do with Modifiers. There is a nicely written and complete chapter about it in the Traktor Manual which will explain how they work and provide some basic examples.

You guys are surely good DJ's and very good technicians but ...

My Question is simple : how do I use the modifiers (M1-M2 ...) ? How does it works ? The manual is not very usefull (TDJ Pro : page 154, 155).

If I want to assign a "List Select UP/Down" by pressing both "Scratch" button (CC41) and "Left Jog Wheel" (CC47), how do I use the Modifier#1 ?

I tryed all combinations, but still, none works. No problem for assigning a simple command, but Modyfiers is a complex understanding for me.

    Thank you.

Knowledge often comes by studying what other did.

Here I took the Rmx mapping provided by Hercules ( which uses exactly the key assignment you want to use BTW) and I remove everything but what relates to your example.

    First, the Modifier key:

    MOD1.JPG

As you can see from the button options (bottom) the value is set to "1". What this means is

    - Scratch button no pressed = Value 0

    - Scratch button pressed = Value 1

So far, this is pretty simple, right ?

    Next the jog Wheel:

    Jog1.JPG

If you look at the Mapping Details section, you'll see that for the List Select ( the function which is highlighted), the modifier condition is set to "1" (you can also see this in the COND 1 column of the assignment table).

    What this mean is

    - Scratch button no pressed = Value 0 = Jog wheel is used for Scratch+Tempo

    - Scratch button pressed = Value 1 = Jog wheel is used for List select Up/Down

Obviously, you can get pretty complicated if you want, but this is the basic concept.

    Did this help ?

    HiiiHa ... !
It Works great ! Thank You so much DJ Phatso.
I was confused with this "button options / Set to value ..."
    I had a bad number affected : It's "1" instead of "O".

But greater than this, now I understand the philosophy of it, how it's working and how to modify anything I want, single or dual "shift" commands due to 'Modyfiers #

You are right : it can goes pretty complicated if needed. Fonctions and buttons combinations are almost illimited. You are a "Pro" ...

Free, free ... Set them free ...

    Again : ThanX a lot !

    Peace.

Hi, I just registered as to ask a question about a problem that was apparent in this thread. I had a problem getting my Herjules DJ Console RMX to work, I did follow this tip however:
(Compressed the spaces so it wouldn't take as much space)

It did work to get the RMX working in Traktor.
However one problem remains, the biggest aswell.
In the pdf that follows the file it tels of everything to do, includng to switch whatever setting you have in the Audio Setup to "Hercules DJ Console RMX ASIO".... but when I do that.....the program simply freezes to death. Nothing happends.. and I have to kill the process. I've tried waiting if it was just pure lag... but 2 hours waiting is not as it should be.

Does anyone know why Traktor hangs when I try to do that?
Without that switch I am only 100% able to mix.. but with no sounds,, which kinda kills the point. ;)

Edit: Oh, and it's WinXP 32bit with SP3!

    Hello Solstickan,

You must set the Rmx in ASIO prior to starting Traktor Pro, is it what you did?
