I have recently switch over to Traktor Pro from Traktor 3 which I used for years. I own a Korg Zero 8, and despite all the bad things I've heard about it over the years it has stood the test of hard useage and lots of hours.

My problem is I can't can't seem to get the midi assignments to actually do anything, ie a fader to control the wet dry mix on one of the effects processor.

Now I know it's not a hardware issue because I can easily assign anything, and I also see the midi indicator working anytime I move a midi assigned knob or fader.

So I'm at a loss. And am reaching out for help!

Read the manual? Traktor's receiving midi there must be a problem with your mapping. Have you tried installing a default mapping then editing that so you have a starting point?

Yeah, I have. The midi mapping even works with the learn button on, but when I go to use it while Traktor is running is does nothing

have you got the midi controller selected in the drop down menu at the top of controller manager and in the IN / OUT drop down menus on the top right?

Yes. Although it only shows up as "Generic Midi", Traktor shows that it is receiving midi messages.

I am VERY new to Traktor Pro, and put off upgrading from Traktor 3 for the longest time because you can't use the 4-band Xone eq when running through an external mixer. Are there settings elsewhere that would affect the functionality of the midi? i.e the deck layout or routing?

Are you sure you can't use the 4 band EQ with an external mixer? EQ is still active in external mode, but it's hidden in the layout by default. You can change this though.

Found a Traktor Pro midi template and for whatever reason everything's good now, everything's functional. And yes, the 4 band eq now works while mixing externally, I could swear the eq didn't function before when I selected mix externally even with the "show fader and eq" box checked

strange! yeh, it should work whether you have the EQ showing or not. The idea being that if you're plugged into a crappy mixer, the volume faders will most likely be ok but the EQ might be absolute balls so you still need the Traktor internal one.
